QUOTE(SiriuslyCold @ Oct 14 2009, 08:05 PM) while the component out is analog, you are getting a digital signal from Astro, have been since the day you subscribed, in case you haven't noticed. component colour better maah...better than s-video... (well, hopefully) Can someone - a moderator perhaps, change the topic title to "When is ASTRO going HD?" |

er ... just to share .. no matter how good yr upscaler is ... if the source is bad ... the picture will be bad.
if there is any consolation, astro does go fullHD once every month .... take a look at the astro's statement sent to yr home ... it is printed and presented to you in fullHD glory ... |

anyways, we all know that other countries already adopting HD, but what resolution is it? 720p or 1080i? Most likely Astro will adopt 720p right?

knock yourself out, check this link for a list of USA's HD trasmission: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Unite...High_Definition |

LCDs tend to have boxier figures for astro compared to Plasma's. no matter which media to play, plasma stil beat LCD a few streets. This post has been edited by carte82: Oct 23 2009, 04:01 AM |

I was informed that Astro already launch the new decoder with componet out instead of S-video.
For those who wants it... the trick is.. Cancel current subsciption and re-subscribe to get a new decoder. By now Astro realized that many LCD/Plasma dont come with S-video anymore. Also the AVR is abondoning s-video too. So... is time to change. But I think Astro will use the HD and Word Cup next year to boost sales. This component output just a stepping stone to resolve the problem of no S-video in many new LCD/Plasma TV. So,...... I think it will happen next year. And Sales will be good. Start buying it stock... ha ha ha ha |

QUOTE(Aspen @ Oct 23 2009, 06:48 PM) The latest decoder I received yesterday has composite, S-video as well as component video out, and LR-audio, optical audio out as well as USB port in front. This decoder was just launched very recently replacing the component-out-no-s-video decoders. |
