while the component out is analog, you are getting a digital signal from Astro, have been since the day you subscribed, in case you haven't noticed.
Can someone - a moderator perhaps, change the topic title to "When is ASTRO going HD?"

This is the latest then.  Thomson?  My 2 mth old one has just component out and no s-video.

Why launch another new analogue one when HD's around the corner?  Oh yeah, they didnt say which corner ...

actually there's an ongoing debate about 720p and 1080i...

from what i've gathered...for HD, progressive is always the better mode than interlaced, and 720p is probably a bit better than 1080i...but to some extend depending on the frame rates and other technical details as well

check this one out...720p vs 1080i - a simple video on the difference of quality

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-JXfyvlPh0

and even in the US, these are the common resolutions for HD...so don't ask for 1080p...it's too much of a bandwidth, technical data issue to tx at this resolution.

so just be happy for whatever Astro's providing soon...as least now we can fully utilize our near-HD qulaity tv and 5.1 receiver when watching tv

i just want HBO, Max in HD with less censorship (esp. for shows like True Blood drool.gif ) ...the rest doesn't matter for now

Hope the charges won't be as high....
