Hey guys, just wanted to clear this up (arguing with a friend over this)


If anybody who have just gotten a new IPhone and it is 3.0 or 3.0.1, even if you go into Cydia now and save your ECID SHSH, you can't do a restore to 3.0 anymore(if suddenly your phone goes dead and need to be restored or for warranty) because it only saves your 3.1 ECID SHSH right? The only thing you can do to retain your JB is to get a Pwned custom firmware with 3.1? and if you had to restore to go back to Maxis for warranty you are pretty much screwed for now since if you upgrade to 3.1 there is currently no JB for it?

That is what I have come to understand in the few days I've owned my IPhone 3GS . Please anyone can confirm? Thanks

Yeah good question, mine states 3.1 saved, that means i can't as well, no wonder i have the error as well. That could be the reason why i nearly bricked my phone today morning, scary. If anyone does know could you please update us.

Hehe, you dont know meh , I am a hero , that nearly bricked my phone, but this is the thing, when i got my phone on the 28th of August, i basically made sure i saved that file, but dont know why cydia states it as 3.1 file saved

Help a friend setting up his New Macbook Pro with VMWare Fusion for WinXP so that he can run IE for On Line trading.... hehe actually I was taking this chance to prepare the iPhone 3GS 3.1 custom restore file .

Created with Pwnagetool 3.1.3 a Firmware 3.1 Custom Restore with the following :-

Partition: 801MB
No Activation
OpenSSH
OpenSSL
Cydia
No custom logo..

and 10 minutes later I got myself a Custom 3.1 restore file. Now to check around if anyone has any issue before I proceed to upgrade my iPhone 3GS 16GB currently on 3.0.1.

28th already too late. Apple already block from signing 3.0 and 3.0.1 anymore. thats why u got 3.1 on cydia.






Wah, nice one. What needed after taht if i want to use your custom 3.1 ?

Now that I have the Custom 3.1 file, I should be able to on my Windows iTune 8.2 by doing a Shift Restore and select the file that I create to upgrade to 3.1 already jailbreak since I am not upgrade the Baseband.

Now all the sifu out there please correct me if I am wrong. Still not yet do that .

Did successfully JB'en my iPhone 3GS 3.1 from 3.01 JB.

Simple Mode
With Activation

Didn't have to go to Recovery Mode or DFU.
Simply press "option" + "Restore" and select the custom IPSW generated earlier.

Work Like charm: Boot up with a pineapple instead of an apple and a bit slow compared to 3.01 JB probably due to the custom ipsw.

However, every now and then Maxis 3G seems hang especially during tethering ( not to the extent of annoying though)

All previously installed apps seems working except "snapture 3.0" (black screen!)

mine is 3g....not 3gs...i think is virgin phone la...

I have a problem with my iPhone la. I cannot restore the version to 3.0.1 due to some error. It says "It isn't eligible for this requested build" if I'm not mistaken. Anyone has this error and have already solved this? Help is very much appreciated.

i got problem when jailbreaking my 3gs.
when jailbreaking,only black screen on my iphone..
this is my 3rd time jailbreaking,the 1st n 2nd was iphone 3g n 3gs and they work correctly..but this one,i dont know y..

How did u managed to get through the Restore thing? I cannot even manage to get past that. Dang.
