She would receive a microwave oven, a vacuum cleaner, a food processor and a water purifier, all of which is worth a total of RM5,800.00. However, in order to receive the gift, Mrs. Vimala was first required to pay Syarikat Easy a deposit of RM1000.00. After the deposit was paid, Mrs. Vimala took the water purifier home. After surfing the internet, Mrs. Vimala had doubts about the quality of the water purifier. She then tried many times to obtain a refund of the deposit from Syarikat Easy but her demands were not entertained. Mrs. Vimala was very disappointed and was advised by a friend to make a claim at the Tribunal for Consumer Claims. Award Form 10 : Syarikat Easy was ordered to refund the deposit of RM1,000.00 to Mrs. Vimala. Last Updated ( Tuesday, 05 August 2008 ) |

when they approach me, they did not know i'm a chinese.
so they came telling me all kinds of shit at the beginning whether am i a chinese or not. i was waiting for a friend of mine and so i listened to whatever they can say since 2 of them bugging me like i'm so kinda tourist or desperado for winning a prize. they told me i won the grand prize and by looking at his face, they look really fake and i said "sorry, i'm busy now". it's hard to believe you can win something easily and their cards has already been open up. they lure around Bukit Bintang area and its annoying and jeopardize Malaysia. |

I'm come across with this SCAM last night (25 Jul 2009) about 7:45pm when I passed by Sg. Wang.
A girl pursuit me to open so call lucky draw. At first I ignore her, she keep disturb me saying help them up so that she can earn RM1 commission for every lucky drawn card (2009 Mega Sales) open. I opened and what an lucky hand, I got "Special Gift". That lady so shock and congratulated on my winning. That lady so happy that I got "Special Gift" which will boost her commission which is a maximum RM2000. In order to make me believed I'm a real winner, there is another "target" beside me which is opened a lucky draw without any winning prize. They want me to call to their office immediately to report and claim my winning. I called on the spot to their office, a lady pick up the call named as Ms. Leow with H/P No:- 012-2241076, she congratulated to me as well. She said to me, "Don't forget to tear me dinner after you got your winning prize". Then this Ms. Leow want me to past the phone to the girl who given me lucky draw ticket. I did that, "Ms. Leow, I'm so happy got customer winning the special prize". From the way she acting in front of me was so fake. After the called, she wanted me to fetch her or using a cab to their office at Taman Desa (I'm not sure where is it) which is about 10 minutes distance. I keep asking what is the term & condition in order to claim my prize. She replied, "Just make a snap shot for them to advertise in newspaper". I said I do not want my photo to be appear in newspaper. Then she immediate reply that, by taking down my IC to claim the prize will do if I do not want to have snap shot. Immediately appear in my mind that If I follow her to the office, sure I will die. I said to her that "Please past my winning ticket to some others. I do not want my gift anymore." Then I walked away. They appear in a group which is the age between 19 to 40 years old. Chinese and Bumi mixed. Conclusion, do not believed on them. You don't know what will happen to you once you arrived their office. You may even need to pay a huge money in order to get your prize. |

‘Scratch and win’ assault KUALA LUMPUR: Seven angry and frustrated people who claimed to have been cheated in a scratch-and-win scam beat up two men allegedly involved in the scam. The group had gone to a double-storey shoplot in Taman Danau Desa here at 1pm to demand reimbursement of the money they had paid. It is learnt that the situation became tense and the group suddenly began assaulting two men working there as well as breaking things in the office. Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia executive secretary Datuk Nadzim Johan and three others coincidentally arrived minutes after the fracas broke out. “I was accompanying a complainant who was a victim of this scam. We were planning to negotiate a reimbursement for the victim, so I called the media as well, but was shocked to see the two staff members in their 20s being beaten up and the office smashed up. “I shouted ‘stop’ several times before they finally stopped assaulting the duo. “I believe they were relatives of victims who were cheated of their money after they were promised a Perodua Viva,” Nadzim said. He said victims of scratch-and-win scams were often frustrated by the lack of action against the culprits. “The victims usually lodged police reports and complained to the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs enforcement division but little or no action is taken against these unscrupulous people who continue to prey on unsuspecting victims,” Nadzim said. He also noted that the duo were not badly injured and only had bruises on their body and face. This post has been edited by Penguin.23: Jul 31 2009, 09:50 PM |

Haha, my friend got duped into working as these 'salesman' before.
One day, he stole the whole stack of the gores dan menang papers and went to mamak and scratched all of them, all same one LOL And their MO is very similar, ask you to gores, then pretend so 'excited' when you 'win', call the 'supervisor', and so on... Their target is usually at suburns and those old folks who are easier to 'cheat' |

I thought the government banned all these. Yet they are still operating.
Is there a lack of enforcement? |

QUOTE(joe_mamak @ Aug 1 2009, 12:47 AM) I thought the government banned all these. Yet they are still operating. If we can file a lawsuit against them, that means the marketing plan must be faulty isn't it? Is there a lack of enforcement? Although we can't make a straight assumption like this, but isn't it obvious that this kind of syndicate is operating illegally? With so many claims reported to the Tribunal for Consumer Claims, we still can't legally shut the whole thing? Are the acts available now still have a certain weakness that they may be exploiting? Now that even the papers are reporting these kind of craps, don't we have a clear regulation to stop this? To all those who got cheated, please report to the tribunal, http://ttpm.kpdnhep.gov.my/portal/index.ph...ntent&task=view |
