‘Scratch and win’ assault

KUALA LUMPUR: Seven angry and frustrated people who claimed to have been cheated in a scratch-and-win scam beat up two men allegedly involved in the scam.

The group had gone to a double-storey shoplot in Taman Danau Desa here at 1pm to demand reimbursement of the money they had paid.

It is learnt that the situation became tense and the group suddenly began assaulting two men working there as well as breaking things in the office.

Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia executive secretary Datuk Nadzim Johan and three others coincidentally arrived minutes after the fracas broke out.

“I was accompanying a complainant who was a victim of this scam. We were planning to negotiate a reimbursement for the victim, so I called the media as well, but was shocked to see the two staff members in their 20s being beaten up and the office smashed up.

“I shouted ‘stop’ several times before they finally stopped assaulting the duo.

“I believe they were relatives of victims who were cheated of their money after they were promised a Perodua Viva,” Nadzim said.

He said victims of scratch-and-win scams were often frustrated by the lack of action against the culprits.

“The victims usually lodged police reports and complained to the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs enforcement division but little or no action is taken against these unscrupulous people who continue to prey on unsuspecting victims,” Nadzim said.

He also noted that the duo were not badly injured and only had bruises on their body and face.

hey, my court will be at 21st August as well...means that day the bloody WILLIam going to attend two listening??? how come tribunal still can let them win????? arg....!!!

the problem is the police report i stated was about being cheated to pay 3000 for this so called health care product. really don't know how to deal with it.

Your SIL hasn't get anything but has paid RM4000???? not even one product?
Anyway, bring along your police report ,all agreements and receipt that you have on hand, make three copies to tribunal. The process will take it around 2 months to settle if everything going smooth. Juniorpop went to tribunal twice for the listening as the he didn't win at the first time. Changes to win is high actually, according to juniorpop, he said that claim ourselves as scam victim will be the strongest point to win, but if you have the product with you, you can also bring along the warranty card to claim that all products dont have the SIRIM label which means those products are not approved by government. i can understand how your SIL feel as i am a student as well and i have used up my 3k which suppose to be my student fees. Just leave a msg here, we are here to help you de, we all face the bad things. haix...

is ur brother in law --> andywwc?? because the case that he describes is so familiar with ur case, look back to page 7. same 4k with no product.

are you sending them using akuan terima (AR) ? if let say you have sent the form 1 to them, you shall get back another part of the AR within this two weeks, which means they have received the form from your side.

hey this is a good idea, let say you bring kongi gelap, can beat them for me as well???
