hi, just adopted a GP n it has been a week.

i bring her out n let her wander in my room n carry/touch her everyday but still she is afraid of me. when i walked closed to her cage, she would stay at 1 corner.

can anyone tell me wat to do so tat she is not so scare of me?

Bonding doesnt happen overnight.. It could take weeks, months even before they get to know you.. Its normal for them to be afraid. Try handfeeding vege to her often and play with her often..

The doc say they have fleas =(
And that may be the problem that caused my baby to be sick.
Now shes under medication and I have to force feed her.
The male one seems to be okay though. Ate his own poop =S

Just wondering which vet did you take them to? Did the vet say anything about the blood in the poo?
Btw try to get oxbow critical care from petshack.. mix the stuff with water and syringe feed her.

No.. The vet didnt say anything about the blood in the poo.. And now my baby Cheesy is DEAD....... Yeah I did syringe feed her. :'(

hey my guinea pig has that issue too. its been over 2mths, and she still runs to her hut whenever i approach the cage. no idea why thou.


yeah that happened to one of my friend. pooped blood and died a few days later. the gp was brought to the vet and the dr said that there are bacteria in her digestive track, like some sort of infection. yeah, there are pretty sensitive.

She died in front of me when i was syringe feeding her........... :'(

hi guys, wat vege do u usually feed ur piggies?

i know potatoes, broccoli, cabbage r poisonous to them, so wat do u feed them?

I feed them lettuce , bell pepper, celery, cucumber, carrot.. That all.. These r feeded alternately.. Coz if feed each day.. They get bored and jus stuck with 1 menu..i wanna try kangkung but dont dare yet as need to clean them throughly as kangkung sometimes may hav worm inside or pacat insideç... Lol..

I need to let go 2GP(both female, get along with each other about 1yr) + cage...

i also use that mites killer, but in my place, it cost me rm10 per tube. but carefull because it is a poison. don't let ur gp lick it. put it on back of gp's neck so they can't lick it.

Hi guys, Bought my piggies to see Dr Jenny last day...they are attacked by mites that cause skin infection...so Doc gave me a new medicine called Revolution that kill few kinds of stuff such as mites, lice and etc not sure all of it...and it is stay there for a month...so after a month need to go back and let Dr Jenny check.
Just a note to all new GP owners....pls do not use wood shaving is possible as what I experince is that wood shaving mite contain mites eggs or mites when they are being process...some are using furniture wood so it might not be process properly so if u put together with your piggies then will get more mites than before...Here i suggest you guys to use Breeder Celect or fleece (if they are toilet train).Recycled paper is always safer than wood shaving...If anyone have other problem with bedding pls share so that we can try to fight mites...throughly...
