QUOTE(Will.i.am.Smith @ Feb 16 2012, 04:48 PM) Lol..not always the case..some will just merely unbox for you, put the thing at where you told them to and simply connected and then..gone with the wind When it comes to HT, full scale installation also involves mounting the screen and projector, possibly also wall brackets for the surrounds. Then perhaps doing a round of room calibration, setting the bass management and double checking with SPL meter. But I think very few vendors give this 100% kind of service. My installation definition is professional wiring, properly arranged and tied, calibration and some audio advice of items that can be added later so the bigger picture is provided As you said many shops just unbox and place them where you tell them, connect wires and habis. |

QUOTE(Will.i.am.Smith @ Feb 16 2012, 08:10 PM) Lol..you're even more particular than me What termination do you prefer? Crimp, solder, etc?Ever since i pulled off a banana plug accidentally and found how bad the termination was done, I chose to do termination by myself from there onward..troublesome but at least i know i wont have 30% of strands lost at the tip there..like a man getting bold |

QUOTE(iman_210 @ Feb 28 2012, 10:08 PM) i meant projector of course and defoe be better than a 50 incher..my worry is PQ as i would be dedicating it as a family hall viewing 100 incher time. When it comes to projector, PQ is only one of the factors. You can get the same or higher PQ than your LCD TV, but probably not at the same cost of 4k. Anyway, apart from PQ you also have to see if you're ok with the practical issues like light control, how to mount it in your living hall, whether you're going to use it in conjunction with TV (does your AVR have twin HDMI out), etc... etc... |

QUOTE(Exoticfreaks90 @ Mar 22 2012, 12:57 AM) another home theater set up owned by a Malaysia Dato. he owned the Stella Utopia+ Mcintosh for the music setup. and this Grande Utopia with Krell latest processor and power amps. total of 7 centre speakers being used. 1 for the main front and 6 for the surround and everything powered by around 10 Krell poweramps. Wah, uber elite system. Very impressive.[attachmentid=2750282] I see he has two rows of seating and that cabinet-like thing is the partition between row 1 and row 2. Are you the installer? |

I would also start with the speakers and/or sub first. These normally give the most bang for the buck.

QUOTE(eugenecctan @ Mar 29 2012, 12:18 PM) Is it? , I was just guessing from the model number, As suggested earlier you might have to upgrade your speakers or AVR or both.Anyhow, that's meant there is nothing wrong with my BD player decoder.. Dunno what is lacking actually. What is your budget? Then we can see whether it is better to spend on the speakers or the AVR. |

QUOTE(eugenecctan @ Mar 25 2012, 06:02 PM) Noted, which speakers to upgrade? I am very happy with my current speakers set for music, but dunno why for movies, I always feel that something is missing... I need someone that knw my speakers to give suggestion. Thanks. I don't know anything about your speaker system, but I found this review: http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/pc-speakers.../pioneer-s31-avStrangely the reviewer's opinion is other way round he thinks it is good for movies but disappointing for music. |

QUOTE(mpyw @ Mar 29 2012, 10:37 AM) I thought BD45 is newer model than the BD60? I think BD45 was released in 2010, whereas BD60 is 2009.But BD45 might sit in a lower range compared to BD60. |

QUOTE(debbierowe @ Apr 3 2012, 11:45 AM) hello... i want to put 5.1 multimedia speakers for the LED (backlight) tv a corner of activities room... Since your couch is against the wall, the 2 surround speakers would be placed on left and right side of the couch. Normal height is from ear level to perhaps 1-2' feet above ear level. So you probably need a stand.may i know... the 3 speakers & subwoofer as positioning below..., any advice of where the 2 other speaker should be? at the back of that its almost the wall, with a couch against the wall, if to put there, i need to get a stand or something, or side table? |

QUOTE(eugenecctan @ Apr 9 2012, 06:21 PM) Thanks for the info, we are all learning from sifu here, btw, my surround speakers are facing down, still consider 90 to 110 degrees right? Not quite the same. The surrounds are meant to be more to the left and right so you can get effects coming from that direction. Now they are on top and this would probably narrow down the surround effects. |

QUOTE(negayem @ May 22 2012, 09:38 AM) Thanks for the good advise. My walls are actually grey in colour but still not dark enough. Another thing that I learnt is not to install the projector and screen until after curtains are installed. Otherwise the room is too bright for image positioning, especially my Optoma which is without lens shift. Apart from the walls, the color of the ceiling and floor (to a slightly lesser extent) is also important. The grey of your wall is quite light though. I think some good colors are dark grey, chocolate or black.Added on May 22, 2012, 9:44 amLooking at the picture again, I think that the reflections may have come from the side of my red cabinet which has a glossy white finishing. |
