Core temp isn't a problem with this set, it's the graphics that I suspect would melt down the set.

After the volt tweaking, the core temp when playing a game like GTA IV is at a relatively cool 50C, but the graphics totally shoots through the roof, hitting the mid 70s. If any of you are familiar with CQ40 that comes with AMD X2 and HD 3450, let me know if your graphics temp is about the same as this DV2.

Oh, BTW, I haven't bought a cooling pad yet... *worried looks*

i used to own v3000 series (got snatched 2 weeks earlier. DAMN THIEF!)

the integrated graphic can easily rise to 100 degree during intense gaming. 90 if playing warcraft3. 70 i think is ok for me,considering a very thin notebook. for me la laugh.gif

seriously buying this. anyone selling this babe online?

The dual core white version is coming soon. Like, this week.

That's the one I want, since they replaced the graphics from HD3410 + 690G to HD3200 (780G all in one). Slightly less graphics oomph, but uses less power. Games like L4D should be playable now with an extra core.

In fact it makes the original Neo CPU look kinda retarded.

Neo X1 1.6Ghz - 15W
Neo X2 1.6Ghz - 18W (and 780G saves power)

And did I mention that it's white? Aww.

I assume they have the black version as usual.

But black one looks so fugly, especially the white circles on it. Awfully tacky.

The white one was the one that I had my eyes on from the start. *ahem*

White keys green letters are hardly seen. Less contrast as compared to black keys.

I'm okay with the current white/black layout though.

Personally I like edge-flush LCD displays (as they look way more classy than the older notebooks where your LCD screen "sinks" in), and these obviously require a black bezel.

I don't want the DVD rom at all. In fact, if I get a rebate for not wanting another useless piece of junk, I'd take it.

And are you sure it's green letters? Looks like a mild case of overexposure + flash in that pic.

finally Congo is here...

imo Yukon is juz to test water only... at least it blew the netbooks away with it's performance and Intel lowered the price of it's C2D SU and C2S SU immediately to make a CULV platform...

in the end it's us consumers who benefit...

if price right Congo is probably another bombshell to Intel... i mean, try play L4D on Acer Aspire Timeline... hmm.gif

I guess I'm becoming a regular in this hole. Hope you guys don't mind.

So I've flashed the BIOS which supposedly give you an extra 1/2 hour. That didn't change anything in terms of temperature. What really made a huge difference is undervolting. Anyone with DV2 *needs* this step, because it greatly improves overall usability. For one thing your DV2 will not feel so warm anymore when watching videos, with the HD 3410 staying at 58 C and never above that.

how did you flashed the bios? i did tried to update all drivers from HP webstie for this DV2, after that, going into window vista is like cutting down 50% of the time.,

where to get the software to flash the bios?

i found that this dv2 is eating too much batteries. i bought this over other netbook is because it is offering 6 dell( dell only offer 3 cell). but then, its giving me about 3 hrs only. any tips to increase battery life?( otehr than flash bios? and lower screen light and so on?)
