I saw reviews that people saying Crucial works with it as well. What's the difference anyway?
I am in sydney right now, i dont think I'm able to try it before purchasing over here.

Anybody using OCZ Vertex 2 120GB on MBP? How is it? Saw someone selling it for a quite good price for 120GB. What is the usable HD space?
*
if you're using it on 2011 Mac models then its not fully utilizing SATA 3, Vertex 2 is SATA 2

Mine is the mid-2010 MBP model and not the 2011 ones. I believe it is only SATA2.
*
yes, SATA 2 is the maximum you can go

My old cam is 11 year old TRV-320E using firewire to transfer.  Problem is, I have lotsa tapes of my kids (since they're babies - now they're teenagers).. I delayed transferring them until vista comes along and decided not to recognize the old cam..

I have no problem with photo, and new AVCHD video.  Only that whenever I'm transferring with my old cam, it will transferring for only 5 minutes and after that FCP crash.  Any suggestion?

Anyway, the RAM is so dirt cheap...  and now I understand why people love apple products even though I'm still learning the interface...  wub.gif  (now that 13" macbook pro looks so damn tempting.. and oohh.. the iphone too.. damnnn.. doh.gif )

not necessary to get KTA ram, its almost 4 times the price.
not worth it.
i got KTV and its working fine

I am able to get the KTA RAM vs KVR RAM definitely less than 4 x the price. Maybe around RM 20 to RM 40 more only.
KVR RAM is fine too but only KTA is certified and tested 100% for Apple products hence the KTA part no.
*
in your case, its more wise to get KTA since you get it at lower price biggrin.gif

ya one more thing. plan to buy external HDD too but i see some are specify to mac and some are normal but both actually can use in mac too is that true? because for mac only is slightly expensive compare to normal. is firewire important too?
*
if you're getting an ext hdd, its best to get Seagate GoFlex range.
the I/O is upgradeable, so don't have to worry about it going out of date

Guys i dunno whether this question would be related to mac section or not...but since ill be doing it on my mac...so i assume it would fit here...
anyway here goes...
i plan to have a centralized place for all my media needs...
so was wondering...
a DAS + Mac to do the sharing and networking part or a dedicated NAS is better? Which would produce better performance?
Medias will be shared between a few laptops, desktops and some media players.
Your help is much needed! notworthy.gif

Thanks!
*
DAS/NAS?
what is that? I've never heard of such thing.
its a hardware or software?

Mac Mini 2011 - what type or brand of SODIMM are compatible with it. Please let me know the brand and model number that have tested by anyone.

Also iMac, MacBook Pro and Mac Mini can upgrade to 16GB is it for 2011 model.
