I have installed on my own SSD on two MBP and iMac. With SSD, the system can fly. SSD rocks. The most reasonable upgrade I must say

1. Anyone here has installed 1TB HDD in MBP? Any tips on clean install of Lion OSX?
2. Is there a 7200rpm 2.5" HDD available locally? In Klang?
3. Any experience with Seagate Momentus XT?

Thank you.
*
1. make a bootable Lion USB thumbdrive, go to recovery hd and erase your HDD using disk utility.
then reinstall using the Lion USB that you made

Does this mean download from Apple or is there some way to make the boot usb from the Lion OSX already running?
I ask because internet at my place is very slow.

TQ.
*
you need to download the file from App Store.
then read this link:

I was wondering if changing the existing 320GB to HDD to SSD, would somehow reduce the weight of the MBP or not?
*
weight difference is not much, if you remove Superdrive you can feel the weight difference

QUOTE(helping432 @ Sep 18 2012, 10:58 PM)
Greetings lowyat members,

Pardon my impoliteness by asking a question at my first post smile.gif But I would appreciate any suggestion that you guys may have,

I am using a 13' Late MacBook Pro 2011, with a  2.4Ghz i5 core, 4Gb RAM.

The question im having is about upgrading my RAM to 16Gb (either 1600MHz or 1333Mhz)

Currently my RAM type & speed is DDR3 & 1333Mhz.

So the question is,

Would upgrading to 16Gb 16000Mhz rather than 16Gb 1333Mhz RAM be a decent thing to do? As in, how much difference would 16000Mhz or 1333Mhz make??

I have been reading here, that 16000Mhz apperantly works with late 2011 i5 core....

And if this post hasn't bore you already... another thing that i would like to know before buying RAM for my mac,
- how would i know what latency of RAM to get?
- how would i know what voltage of RAM should I get?

and most importantly....where can buy ~~
Note - I will be using the computer with parallels and doing a lot of biology analysis (so i need a big ram)

Thanks in advance, any help pointing to more detail would be great! smile.gif
*
its better to use 1333Mhz since yours is 2011 Model.
just get Mac Memory modules, theyre Apple tested.
Peace of mind
you can get it from garage sales section

I'm in dilemma whether to spend on extra RAM or go for SATA-3 SSD.
Anyone here ever test their mac to max on this?
*
get SSD first, you will not feel the difference for RAM if you do not maximize the use of it

you can go upto 32GB
your iMac has 4 slots, each capable of supporting 8GB
the RAM slot is actually just below your iMac.
you will see a slot with 2 screws, open it and you can easily change the RAM
