QUOTE(ne3ro @ Feb 23 2011, 04:34 PM)
guys, ive just  get my imac few days ago. its a 27 inch mid 2010 intel i5. Im planning of upgrading the ram from 4 GB to 8 GB. Is all ddr3 laptop ram compatible with my imac? is Kingston KVR1333 DDR3 SODIMM compatible? thanks..
*
There are another topic on upgrade and RAM. In general there are mix result from using Value RAM with Mac. Just make sure your seller allow you to return on case of incompatibility you should be fine.

i have a problem
i cant seem to connect to the internet wirelessly
but if i connect the ethernet cable the internet is fine
im not sure if my macbook or my router is the problem
because before , wireless connection was fine
*
In general if your router is using WEP security, you need to punch in the hex equivalent of the password. For example your password is "123", the hex might be "1c23b10a". You can get the code from the router admin page. If you use the old "123", you get to connect to the router but you won't get an IP. If you problem is can't connect to the wifi at all, reply again.

Let me clarify things a bit.

#1 there are no "Driver CD" for MacBook, because:
- There are DVDs.
- They are Mac OS X and Applications installer. Not driver alone. Disc one contain OSX installer, Extra install & AHT. Disc 2 contain extra installation expanded from Disc 1.

#2 drivers are all included in OSX for all supported stock hardware. From graphic to RAID-card. 3rd-party add-on is different chapter. User usually not need to even look at them. Just make sure the Mac & Mac OSX is compatible with each other.

#3 Depends which model is your MacBook. If you call AppleCare for the original Disc 1 and Disc 2, you might get older 10.4 or 10.5 OS that shipped with your MacBook model, which might not the latest 10.6. So why pay for old OS? Where you can get latest for RM109.

Should be software. Wait for 10.6.7 update or MBP firmware update.

Your MBP is using LED backlit if I'm not mistaken.
But reaching the inverter board is not an easy task. You have to remove topcase, display assembly and rear housing.

And lastly, it might not be inverter, as LED inverter seldom fail. When your screen goes dark check with a torch or lamp if you can see dim image. If you can't see anything try connect external monitor if you get display.

1) It will rev up once during power up. Once the SMC loaded it should go back to normal. That would take less then 10 sec.
2) What type of RAID card on which year's Mac Pro?

1) That's not normal, try run AHT see it report any error. You see any red LED stay on inside the Mac?
2) Ok, is your RAID card from Apple?

1) I'm using Drive Genius.
2) If your card is older than 1 year. Change the backup battery. This card will very easily caused failed RAID arrays or even corruption. You can google about it. Very common problem. I prefer RocketRAID card.
