haiz ....
actually all GC had the probability of getting overheat. It depend on the user.
Dont worried i'm trying on the SXPS 16 ! may be my GC is the only one faulty from ATI or from Dell.
So far i had tested ... no problem with my gaming software. Last one is the Driver and GC.

I heard alot ppl get scold 8400 GS. for those unknown ppl, they using 8400GS never facing overheating issue.
as my roommate, he never believe that inpsiron 8400GS will overheat. almost 8 months using it, no problem at all.
my relative using 8600GT from acer aspire (06-07) ddint facing any overheat issue rclxm9.gif

hard to said ~ bcoz world wide many ppl facing such issue ~
ATI also not very good, the driver issue. wish SXPS use ATI 4870 or 9800GT.
Overheat never mind, Dell will replace as long the warranty is still there.

I heard from Dell technician that Dell update XPS 13 bios that will prevent teh GC overheat but while you playing the game, u will facing lagging !! Having a fun lagging game ~

hmm i've a ASUS Z53S with the 8600M GS card. bought it in August 2007. play with overclocks alot. coz my card's speeds were downclocked to Core:500/Mem:400. sad.gif

was it a countermeasure against this issue or did ASUS do it just to give more battery life and reduce the hassle to provide better cooling? o_O

My laptop use 8400m die after 1 year of usage. Luckly it still under warranty with Dell. Hopefully it will not die again.

Just avoid this gc for ur own good. U have been warned.

Maybe MOD can put this thread on the top/sticky to make sure buyers aware of it and not been fool by the major/big company like Nvidia/HP/Dell/etc.

i owned a 1420 8400M GS 128MB, i just have the GPU problem recently ... lucky is still under warranty. if not i gonna cry already. i call dell, they come my house and replace the motherboard for me ... but what is, the warranty is ending soon. GGness. The tempreture for browsing internet and listen to music is 64 - 63. is it too high ? but for my advise is, if u owned this lappy, PLEASE DUN PLAY GAME USING THIS LAPTOP. after change the motherboard the display output on the monitor is not working, dono what is wrong. i mean after pressing Fn+F8. (Just Using 9 month). icon_question.gif
