QUOTE(Foxngn) Some's dies some's grow, as usual still remember last time i said my Intermmedia growing rate was too slow ? now they are growing fast with the old & new seed, but due to space constraint, i plant a lots of seed in 1 pot. The Burmanii still flowering quite lot as same as the intermmedia. My Adelea had been growing many plantlets from the substrate, it still inside the pot last time i took from u. When the below leaf start to dry off, i cut it out, & now its become a nest to those spider already. =.=... Haven't start to propagate it though. Glad to hear that those plant still growing well under yours care. QUOTE(Cybuster) hmm i saw many times d...wanna buy many times but cannot.... not convenient to take....some more no time take care.... kinda cool when u c flies drop inside they slowly digest by the plant 1 of reason why I like CP is because it didn’t need many times to take care. Just make sure the water tray didn’t dry up. And change water weekly. The others reason why I like it is because it is unique plant. And may make you famous as well… haha!!! |

HyourinMaru, for CP, we buy seeds, gammae, plants from oversea or local collector. Beside that, we also do exchange with local and oversea collector as well.
QUOTE(Foxngn) LoL... agree with that. But sometimes feel geli to clean up those algae that form on the side of the pots. Haha… algae only mar… QUOTE(Foxngn) btw, know's that if we plant new seed for grow, we can't let them to kena rain, since the water will splash the seed dunno to where, but if the adult plant was kena raining, do they damage ? Normally it will not hurt CP plant. But, the plant overall look may be not so nice (leaf splash by rain may causing leaf laying on media or left and right). Beside that, I personally believe that drosera/sundew that protected from rain will grow nicer because, it don’t need to spent energy to produce their dew. Rain didn’t give side affect to VFT, sarracenia. |

QUOTE(Foxngn) One thing i dunlike on my current plant condition is, still due to space constraint, my plant doesn't get enough of sun light, & the plant looks less pinkish or none. May be create a Terrarium for yours CPs!! Edmund is expert in this... I can help get some accessory cheap. QUOTE(HyourinMaru ) So casey,u selling ur VFT? eeem... I can spare a VFT 'shark teeth' (around 50cents size) to you if you want. Else, please wait for 1 or 2 months for it to grow bigger. QUOTE(edmund ) move it to indoor if can ... some cp might look more beauty if keep indoor of cos it will increase the cost oso ...^^ yea!!!! move it in door, then setup a Terrarium for them. Most costly will b lighting. QUOTE(foxngan) ya i know.. still the same reason, space constraint, no place to put another light inside house. Setup a small lighting at table suppose is ok as well. Most important is, correct lighting tube. |

QUOTE(HyourinMaru ) Ooo...So mostly they r cultivated? If those sell in nursery, mostly grow from Tissue Culture. Because, plant will grow faster in TC if compare with grow from seeds or leaf cutting. For VFT, normally collector will propagate it from leaf cutting. If you are patient enough, you can grow from seeds as well. Personnally, I feel that VFT is not easy to flower. In my house, it never flower before |

QUOTE(HyourinMaru) Is flowering important for VFT?As long as they live healthily is ok rite? Purpose of plant flowering is because to produce seeds. So, if you don’t want to collect seeds, flowering or not is not a problem. Sure cannot deliver lar!!! |

QUOTE(foxngn) btw, talking back about propagating adelae. It is better using those fresh old “dewing“leaves. And not almost dead leaf.Do i need to cut only fresh leaf & lying it on top of the substrate, or those almost dead leaf also can be use? 1 more thing, about root cutting, do i need to tear out the whole root, or i can cut half of the root? As I remember. The writer said pull out root from mother plant and cut it off. And “tanam” the root with sphagnum moss or peat moss. I never try it yet. Please share the result with us. |

QUOTE(HyourinMaru ) BTW...can i use coco-fibre as substrate for CP? coco-fibre can use for nepenthes and not others CP. For others CP like sarra, drosera, VFT, normally, I use mixture of sphagnum moss, peat moss, perlite, sand. I didn’t count the portion. And sometime, I just use sphagnum moss + perlite or sand. QUOTE(HyourinMaru ) Ok...thx.So u just those things 2gether as substrate?Or u will layer them? I mixed them up as substrate. For seeds, normally I just use peat moss + sand/perlite. A expert told me that sand + peat moss is good for sarra. ---------------------- nice site for CP photos. There are a lots of CP photos... QUOTE(Foxngn) Oh.. does it matter which side of the leaf is lying on the substrate? anyway, usually it took how long for it to cling on the substrate & grows? Please make sure the top of leaf is facing top... Take how long ar???? emmm... I didnt count it ler... Normally, I just left it there and as long as the leaf didnt turn black, you suppose will get some plantlet from it. Make sure the media is always wet till you can feel water on the media. |

hehe... CP god is coming on the board!!!!
Lets make a quick introduction to him... His name is David, he have 1 wife and 1 son... oppppssss... too personnal.... Actually, Im kena CP poison because of him!!!! my 1st 2 CP is from him, red VFT and a burmanii. His name is David Tan, owner of http://www.petpitcher.com. CP poinor at Malaysia. Nice guy that know a lots of CP. David, can I post my CP competition photo here? ----------- HyourinMaru, most of CP prefer strong light, high huminity to growing well. If we grow them using water tray method, the huminity suppose is enough for CP. For VFT, in order for it to show their potential color 100%, you need a place that have temperature 10'c +- difference at day time and night time. You know why David CP is so nice???!!! He take care them like his 2nd son. And main reason it is growing so nice is, it is keep in door that have consistant environment and you can control how many hours of light you want to provide to them. If not mistaken, David give them 10~12 hours light!!!! |

QUOTE(Foxngn @ Jul 15 2009, 10:14 AM) If i would like to do that too, but would like to replace the Utricularia with some terrestrial moss, any recommendation/where to harvest? You can keep those normal garden moss as well. It will looks nice!!!! ================== Off topic from the garden, if i would like to keep CP under lights, what is the distance i need to keep the plant from the light ? Distance for light, depends on what light you are using. FL/T8 light, you need to put nearer. May be around 6inches. For PLL light, you can put more far, may be 1ft... Edmund and David able to asnwer you better. Since both of them keep titarium using artificial light. Both of them are expert in that. |
