QUOTE(sabiaz27 @ Sep 1 2015, 12:28 PM) Hi Master, Please help to advice, for PD, if when we are not open the app, does the resources (RAM and HDD) will be free or keep allocated for PD only? Thanks in advance. Logically, it should be free. Similar if you open Photoshop, you will use the resources but if you close it, it should be free.

QUOTE(murrayaustin @ Sep 10 2015, 09:38 PM) parallels is great than fusion That depends on what you use it for. Fusion is geared towards Enterprise while Parallels is geared towards Consumer. For example, you can build an ESXi server on another machine and Fusion can connect to it remotely. QUOTE(Cheapodude @ Sep 12 2015, 10:31 AM) Logically, it should be free. Similar if you open Photoshop, you will use the resources but if you close it, it should be free. That's not how VM's work. As far as OSX is concerned, Parallels will reserve the RAM allocated to it until you shut it down.

Unstable Internet connection maybe?
How's the Startup Manager looks in El Cap? I hated how it looks in Yosemite, so I bought myself Fusion 8. Hahaha.

Is it recommended to create windows partition first and use parallels desktop to run that partition rather than use parallels solely to run windows?

QUOTE(ganick5461 @ Apr 8 2016, 12:52 AM) Is it recommended to create windows partition first and use parallels desktop to run that partition rather than use parallels solely to run windows? That's Boot Camp Parallel will just keep the whole windows file as one big file i.e windows10.pvm You can transfer or delete this file as you wish just like that. Say my macbook has only 128Gb SSD, so sometimes i need some space when editing video, so i transfer the window file in portable hdd and to save space. When i want to use windows i put back the file. as easy as that.

Hello all,
So I have my time machine backup my entire mac OS using an actual macbook, which I have now sold...
I would like to restore from the time machine but I don't have a mac now.
Is it possible to install VMware (or parallels) into Windows, then install OSX, then plug in the time machine to restore?

Calling out to 21" or 27" iMac '17 owners: have you tried bootcamping with Win 10 for gaming?
What's the performance like? I'm contemplating of getting a either model to do: - daily computing on OSX - entertainment needs on OSX - gaming on bootcamp
Best of both worlds on slim profile desktop that could (or should) work seamless with the rest of my Apple products.
I own a MacBook white many years ago and my experience was pretty good. I'm trying to find out how the imac stacks up.
