Ok my PD8 Trial will end in another 6 days, parallels discount from $79.99 to $59.99 and they take paypal.

https://buy.parallels.com/329/purl-us-pd8f?...campaign=bfcm12

Should i buy it now? They said deliver electronically so are they sending the activation code via email or appear on their website like buying PSN card?

Anyone bought it from parallel website directly before?

Of course buy it for RM359 from Switch or Apple.com/my/ is an rip off option.

Just did install parallel 7 and win 7 on my mba. win 7 occupied 64 gb, the rest was mac os. mine is 256gb. Question is how to set around 100gb for my win 7? anyone can help. 64gb just a little space.
*
No need to set anything, parallel is not like bootcamp or making a partition, the whole OS, apps, files and activities within the OS will be encapsulated in one *.pvm file like

windows 7 ultimate 64bit.pvm
windows 8.1 professional 64bit.pvm
ubuntu 13.04 64bit.pvm

The name of the file follows the name you give for your OS. Each pvm will grow bigger with more files and applications u installed and take up more of your macintosh HD space in parallel folder. Not partition

If you want more space for OSX just relocate these pvm files to a portable hdd or NAS or cloud up to you.

Dont worry u can just transfer back to your mac when you want to use them. All settings are intact. No uninstallation, deletion or reinstallation of OS needed. Just drag and drop again and your windows or linux or whatever will be just the way they're before.

This is the beauty of parallel desktop

omg, i thought i saw a comment earlier that win7 only take 10gb, my mba only 128gb, can't spend that much for win7...
*
My mba is 128 too, so i always relocate my windows pvm file when i want to use mac and vice versa.

my windows 7 ultimate 64bit.pvm has Office 2010 64 bit takes up 21.89GB
windows 8.1 professional 64bit.pvm is around 18.43GB

I thought i never want to use windows but today this interior design software has no mac version so i dropped the windows pvm file that i keep in portable HDD and run windows and installed that software without a glitch.

I only allocate 1GB RAM for W8, using XBMC windows version to play DTS HDMA movies via extended display to HDTV. No problem so far

Ok here is, make sure you choose correct one for your windows (make sure you run parallel 10)

1. Download one of the upgrade tool files (compatible with your version of Windows) using the direct links below:

Download Tool Now (32-bit version) http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=616935
Download Tool Now (64-bit version) http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=616936

NOTE: for installing a 64-bit version of Windows 10 please make sure your virtual machine has at least 2GB of RAM assigned. To check virtual machine's RAM please open configuration menu -> Hardware tab -> CPU & Memory. To increase the memory you would need to shut down your virtual machine.

2. Run the downloaded file and follow the steps to upgrade to Windows 10:

3. Once the upgrade is finished you can shut the virtual machine down and rename it (Configure... -> General)

That's it!

Is it recommended to create windows partition first and use parallels desktop to run that partition rather than use parallels solely to run windows?
*
That's Boot Camp

Parallel will just keep the whole windows file as one big file i.e windows10.pvm

You can transfer or delete this file as you wish just like that. Say my macbook has only 128Gb SSD, so sometimes i need some space when editing video, so i transfer the window file in portable hdd and to save space.

When i want to use windows i put back the file. as easy as that.
