Hi, I was wondering for the purpose of soft bandage lens, why do we need such a large diameter? a smaller lens like rgp will help in tear exchange and would be healthier

Hi jialat

Come across this thread and would like to seek for your advice

looking for monthly contact lens (no color) that can cater for astigmatism. Power is around 300+ while astigmatism is around 100+. What's the difference between toric and soft lens etc? As nature of the work doesn't require too much time w laptop, but might need to wear for 10 to 12 hours, which is better for the eyes (health wise) and economic? Any difference in terms of silicone or hydra gel is better etc? I bought the contact lens 2 mths ago because it is cheap . Using Bausch n lomb soft lens 59. During promo, 6pairs (6 mths) for rm100 and comes with one bottle solution ( i think it's renu). I was thinking of not so expensive lens but is enough for daily usage.

Is solutions very important? I understand u recommend bio true. Any comment on freshkon clear multiple purpose solution and solo care compared to bio true? Is it because it is not moisturizing enough and doesn't keep the lens moist for long hours?

Soft lens means contact lens is soft type, as they are hard lens still around in market.

Toric lens is also soft, normal no astig correction lens is also soft.

Silicone hydrogel soft lens for toric i would recommend either air optix toric or biofinity toric. Price almost the same after divided in each pair cost.

Normal hydrogel lens for toric is low oxygen and not a good healthy option. Avoid this by all means unless u dont care about your eye health.

Solution is very important otherwise u wasting money on good lens but soak with lousy solution. Freshkon solution not good, solo care aqua stopped production long time ago. Stick to biotrue because its good and not expensive compared to puremoist. Look at hours of moist keeping which lead to better comfort.

Appreciate your advice very much.

For monthly contact lens, which would you recommend? the first post shows:

"Monthly lens recommendation:
1st : Ultra monthly clear lens (RM 50)
2nd : air optix hydraglyde (RM 55) or miacare (RM 50)
3rd : biofinity (hard to remove) (RM 60)

Toric monthly lens recommendation:
1st : air optix toric (RM 95 if 4 boxes & above)
2nd: oasys toric (2 weekly lens) (RM 130 each if 4 boxes & above)
3rd : biofinity toric (hard to remove) (RM 160 each if 4 boxes & above)

I personally still very much prefer acuvue oasys (RM 105) lens whether for normal or toric type."

While your updated post shows:

"monthly clear (no color) silicone hydrogel lens : Miacare monthly (better oxygen flux and comfort than air optix and biofinity)"

As i am looking for no color contact lens with astig that are good and dont want to spend too much, which should i go for? miacare / ultra monthly clear lens / air optix toric?

Your astig is around -1.00 then u need toric lens for clearer vision. U can go for air optix toric lens RM95 for a box and an extra piece. If 2 eyes having different power then u need two boxes.

I have tried opticare multi mate multi purpose solution and find it very comfortable and last long hours. Any feedback / comment on this solution vs biotrue? As the recommended solution is biotrue, just wondering is there alternative which is also good enough like biotrue but cheaper 😁

Multimate doesnt contain hyalunic acid which is the natural moist retaining agent in human eyes. But if u are comfortable with it then u can stick to it. I prefer something more natural.

Hi Jialat, referring to your first post, would like to ask for your opinion on daily lenses...

"Daily lens recommended :
1st : alcon total 1 day (RM 140)
2nd : acuvue trueye (RM 130)
3rd : biotrue daily lens (RM 95 before October)"

Have you tried Clariti 1-day by Coopervision? Since it is silicone hydrogel material similar to 1st and 2nd place, would like to know the comfort compared to these 2.
Also 3rd place is made of HyperGel material, is it better than Clariti 1-day's material silicone hydrogel?

Many thanks! biggrin.gif

Yes i tried clariti daily silicone hydrogel lens, after cooper vision bought over sauflon and rename it to be clariti daily, the quality is the same, just change packaging. Its considered normal, nothing great. Thats why its selling so cheap, can get by rm 80 a box but you should know “what u paid is what u get”. Their silicone hydrogel is much much older generation, not improvised.

Yes, biotrue hypergel is much better than clariti daily lens, i can get stock for all of them but i choose the best 3 to recommend only. Comfort and ocular health is better with hypergel than clariti daily.

Hi Jialat, I would like to ask for your advice. Thank you in advance.

I only wore contact lens occasionally but now I intend to wear it more often due to exercises. The thing is, I always find them uncomfortable and slightly irritating immediately after I put them on. Up until yesterday, I have only tried Cooper Vision's Biofinity toric and 1-day Clariti toric, both are not pleasant.

Yesterday, I went to an eyewear shop and the staff told me that I have small pupils and suggested that I try 'smaller' sized lenses particularly those with lower 'BC'. I was dumbfounded as I didn't know that contact lenses come in different sizes. Anyway, I was given a pair of 1-day Acuvue moist with astig to try out. Sadly, I still felt the same discomfort mainly in my left eye when I am on the Acuvue Moist. I would say it felt more like poor fit rather than dryness-related.

So my questions are, what brand/model of contact lenses would you recommend to me for my case or just keep trial and error until I find the most suitable one?

hi, u need to check your corneal curvature and calculate the suitable base curve but i doubt you have abnormal corneal reading, its more likely due to lens material. You should try oasys toric, then see its better or not.
