Hi, if u only using it for sports and short hours, then I would recommend biotrue daily lens. Its a much healthier lens material but not for extended hours wear.

I have been involved in contact lens related business & visual health since year 2005. I myself started wearing contact lens since early 2000.

this thread is purely for all members to share or ask information about contact lens & related product, as requested by many of my regular and new customers here in lowyat.net.

please do not flood my pm inbox with questions as i prefer to answer them here in order to prevent repeating myself answering same question from different members. thank you very much for all your consideration and support all this while.  thumbup.gif

Added on March 21, 2009, 1:03 pmthe most commonly asked question in my pm was

Daily lens recommended :
1st : alcon total 1 day
2nd : acuvue trueye
3rd : biotrue daily lens

Monthly lens recommendation:
1st : miacare monthly clear lens
2nd : air optix hydraglyde
3rd : biofinity (hard to remove)

Toric lens recommendation:
1st : air optix toric
2nd : biofinity toric (hard to remove)

I personally still very much prefer acuvue oasys lens whether for normal or toric type.

Color lens recommendation:
Monthly : infiniti color
Daily : acuvue define

Multifocal monthly lens recommendation:
Monthly : air optix multifocal
Daily : acuvue moist multifocal

'WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN O2 OPTIX & AIR OPTIX, WHICH IS BETTER?"

i usually directed them to another member's thread in kopitiam, but i would summarized it here.
both o2 optix & air optix are manufactured by ciba vision.

AIR OPTIX has the same material but with copolymer 845 to improve surface properties, to mousse foams and form clear, smooth-feeling, non-tacky films on lens surface.

air optix is aspheric design while o2 is spherical design.

aspheric lens offer thinner periphery thus less lens edge sensation, so better comfort. some said it offers better visual acuity but i personally did not feel any difference compared to spherical lens.

i tried both before, even with 1 piece o2 optix on 1 eye and air optix on another eye but honestly i cant feel any difference in terms of vision and comfort.

Will wearing contact lenses be harmful to the eyes? Will it affect our vision in the future?

Hi, I have astigmatism and would like to try coloured lenses. I have drier eyes and am currently using Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism(very much enjoying the lenses). Do you have any recommendations for colour toric lenses that aren’t that drying? Thank you very much!

Also, initially I was thinking to try biofinity. But I read your post you were saying biofinity are harder to remove. May I know is it because the lenses are thinner?

No, contact lens doesn’t harm your eyes but must take good care of hygiene.

All color lens are more dry than clear lens, especially u used to oasys. Color toric lens RM 240 a pair if u interested but its a 3 monthly lens.

Biofinity harder to remove because its thicker and suck on to cornea stronger.

acuvue moist toric lens is much much better than clariti daily toric.

the color lens toric is kazzou or colorvue.

Hi,

I have astigmatism and I've been wearing glasses for 3 years.

I'm looking for contact lens for working out - around 1-2 hours/daily. Any recommendation?

I have no experience with contact lens, how much would it cost? Would it be more than RM100 per month? how long does it last?

Normally I recommend daily lens for sports purposes but if u would like to save budget then u must make sure the monthly disposable contact lens hygiene is well taken care.

Hello,

I just bought my first contact lens.

Everything is still in the box, not so sure how to start using it.

1. Am I suppose to soak the lens in multipurpose solution before wearing it? Cannot wear straight out of the box?

2. Can I wear it for swimming (with goggles on)?

3. I only plan to wear it a few times a week, do I still have to change the solution daily? (monthly lens)

4. Let's say I start using the lens today, after 1 month I have to throw it away even though I only use it a few times?

Sorry, lot of questions, the box said you might go blind sounds quite scary haha.
