One of the value buy then the other on the market.

Compaq all cut off the spec and squeeze to cheap price.

so despite all the bad reviews on acer laptops u mean to say this model is the best they ever produced? if so, then i think i'll consider this model. BTW, i also saw this model, 4736Z with DDR3 RAM...any significant differences between DDR2 & DDR3 when using vista?

Some of us are saying it is the better choice for spec/price, not saying this is the best model Acer ever produced. You have to take care of your laptops, regardless of brand.

List the 4736z specs and maybe there'll be some opinions for you.

This model is considered one of the most cost-effective among the others in the same tier.

The question that you want to ask is "does the 3 years warranty cover lcd hinges?". Any owners called and asked?

Yes it covers all except for burnt mark, LCD crack and accident natured such as liquid immerse, other than that hingers//covers//boards//buttons//keyboards all are included in the 3yr warranty package.

As far as i know, Acer starting from Gemstone series does not have issues on LCd hinges while the LCD hinges problem is on the older generation Acer laptops where the silver/black type.

Burnt mark on electronics such as mbo. If got burnt mark then warranty void.
