QUOTE(whizzer @ Apr 17 2009, 02:56 PM)
Let me try #1 (if i m wrong.. someone pls correct me  notworthy.gif  )

The price of RM1.12 is only exclusively available to existing share holders. Its a 4:5 rights issue, meaning that for every 4 existing shares of AXIATA, you are entitled to purchase 5 new shares at special price of RM1.12.

This is also a "renouncible" rights issue which means that if you don't want to buy the share, you can sale the rights to someone else. The value of this rights is OR price, ie. 0.65.

Analogy :-
At the supermarket, you buy 4 bars of soap @ 2.61. However, the supermarket have special "offer" and gives you five special coupon (the OR) which enable you to redeem 5 extra bars of soap @ special price RM1.12.

However, you may decide that you have too many bars of soap already. So you sell the coupon (OR) to your friend. You may discover that at this juncture, all of sudden the price of soap drops drastically (chiefly because now we have too many bars of soap in the market  biggrin.gif  ).  So now soap sells  for RM1.83 each. The question you ask yourself is how much should you sell the coupon to your friend. If you sell coupon at 0.65cts, then when he goes to supermarket, he buys the soap at RM1.12. So his cost = cost of coupon (Rm0.65) + cost soap @ special price (RM1.12) = RM1.72.

Compare this if he goes to buy the soap without the coupon, i.e. RM1.83.

Again not necessarily so. It depends on your timing on acquiring. If AXIATA price drops & you bought the OR on the high side, you will be paying more then if you get the AXIATA share outright.

e.g. if you bought OR at 0.65 & suddenly the price of AXIATA drops to 1.70. Then in this case, you are paying RM0.65 + RM1.12 = RM1.77 per share. Additional 0.07cts more expensive.

14% or so biggrin.gif but looking at it 2.09 seems a bit optimistic unless there's some more late rally in the afternoon.

Okay. Then your dealer will call you to make sure you have enough money in your trading account. What you need to do is to add in RM1.12 per OR in your account. You dealer will do everything for you.
