well they do not check whose here and whose not.so i dont think there is any problem.but you may miss your unit planning advice session where the Course Executives will teach you how to plan your units

there is nothing wrong with attending or not attending the orientation. but at least you should attend the 1st day as well as the day that is allocated for sorting out things like monash email, student ID, etc

Yeah, the unit planning is really important. But, any idea if orientation is different if you are taking a double degree? Like, its two different faculties so I'm kinda wondering so yea...

on general it should be only 2 days right? is it so hard to bear with it?

Orientation are usually important the first 2 days. Planning your course units especially electives will be briefed during this time. Also, allocating your units (smash them all in 3 days or spread over 5 days?) the earlier the better.

After that, it'll be campus tour and games. Skipping this is all right because the campus isn't all that big. But getting to make friends from this may change the way you undergo your uni life.

Uni isn't just about books and classes. It's how/who you make friends, participate in student activities and shape your character.

Will I be completely lost as far as subject planning is concerned if I don't attend the first day of orientation? I don't really mind the boring-ness, but I'm planning to skip the entire thing to attend intensive Japanese classes, really.
