Give free complain pulak, put it this way the cd is for those who uses internet minimal, and does not have time to spend to wait for the download, although its just 1 hour.

If u dont want the cd then just give it to someone else, the cd can help those who dont have long hours of internet time to download.

i will b happy if Optus here provide free cd too but it is impossible

example i took $49 cap for iphone 3g 16gb for 12months contract n the handset cost me $45 per month ..

Yes agreed. My mobile broadband easily zaps up 50MB++ data in the first 15 minutes. On the iPhone, things are much more efficient since we rely on apps and not outright browsing.

Apple scrambling to counter Dev Team?

Thanks to Psyeo for the first heads-up, it is just this paragraph piques my interest:-
If your Maxis CD contains this old OS, and Apple is yanking it out to counter Dev Team's ultrasn0w efforts, you can throw that CD in the dustbin already for being an outdated version of OS 3.0. On a related note, my contact in Maxis just chimed in. Maxis, as expected, is stretching the 3G[S] launch till late July/early August. Price indicator? 16GB 3G[S] = current 16GB 3G.

That is it, I am scrambling my own plan. Maxis, you had your shot, but you just had to prolong the wait. I am not inclined to wait any longer.

No, you can update it right away. Officially unlocked phones are safe, jailbreak-ed iPhone is not cause it will revert your phone back to locked unit.
Jailbreak phones are safe as well, yellowsn0w ones are not.
However, jailbreak ones need to wait for the release of new jailbreaking tools for 3.0, and if its an unlocked phone, it will stay that way till kingdom comes.

Let me just ask you based on your original answer rebutted by Hanxz....what if my jailbroken iPhone is an officially unlocked unit? According to your statement highlighted above, you said it is not safe and my phone will lock. And that is incorrect which is what Hanxz is pointing out.

Your subsequent clarification actually reaffirms what Hanxz said as when he said yellowsn0w ones, he means un-officially unlocked units.
