guys, i jes checked on maxis webiste and found this super weird condition:--

Additional identification is required for customers who register for the i-Value 3
& 4 plans.
a. Mandatory requirements for Locals - IC + any of the 2 documents below
(Note: treatment during launch on-ground differs as it’s not possible to get
copies of the documents on the spot):
 Drivers License
 Credit Card
 Passport
 Pay Slip
 Form J
 Student Card
 Medical Card
 Club Membership
 Confirmation Letter from Employer
Letter from College verifying details of individual

So, that means those who signed up for IVP3 and 4 got to bring along the abv doc to collect the iphone? If one can pay for the iphone, why shoud they request for pay slip etc those confidential info? sweat.gif , we are not getting loan from maxis rite... doh.gif

Those documents requirements already posted earlier by me, even before it appears on the website. You'll face even weirder processing procedures later, requiring biometric fingerprinting. Reason being, they dont want fiascos like people buying the iPhone for cheap and then defaulting on the payment. All these documents are necessary to track you down later should you decide to run away from payment.

Apple Malaysia's site may already been updated, but the official Apple webpage is still devoid of any mention of Malaysia.

I believe that is so because it's not officially launched yet. It's open for booking though. That should change soon after the launch on 20th.

Yup, it takes a conniving sneaky Malaysian to know another Malaysian. Always on the lookout on ways to cheat their ways out of things, on some cases, crossing the legal line as well.

Mmm ... why do they have 2 different web pages?

Added on March 14, 2009, 1:28 pmMaybe they're still changing it? If you go to the apple malaysia iphone section, there's a reference to iphone accessories but it's not fully functioning yet as it only takes us to the apple online store and not to the iphone section of the store. Just a thought.

Added on March 14, 2009, 1:29 pmWell this does not excite me much ... waiting for the next phone is. Been waiting to change this phone and if it's good then I might take the plunge with Maxis (given that they got the new model la).

There are two, I believe, because each and every localised Apple regional website are maintained separately by the differing countries. Apple.com is the one maintained by Apple themselves, our Malaysian webpage is maintained by Apple Malaysia, and since Apple Malaysia knows about the local iPhone launch more intimately than Apple HQ, it has not been updated. The news about our local launch picked up by Macworld and iLounge are mainly feeds submitted by readers who knew about the launch locally. Apple HQ either still dont know about this, or will update it later.

Or, the worse case scenario, Maxis's position as an appointed telco isnt recognized at all, and they are banking on Singapore for their units, hence launch still under the name of Singtel/Singapore as "official available now". Makes you think why "Malaysia" wasn't on the "Coming Soon" list before too either isn't it?

Mmmm ... makes me think that Apple Malaysia is going against the mother ship?

If Maxis isn't recognized then the deal was between Singtel/Singapore and Apple Asia instead of the big ol' infinite loop? Sounds fishy.

Yeah. In fact, if we click on maxis logo in Where to Buy page, we will be redirected to SingTel Customer Service - Locate Us official webpage. rclxub.gif

If it comes to the "worse case scenario" I mentioned, what this launch merely is, is a DUMPING GROUND for all the excess iPhone 3G units from Singtel Singapore to Maxis, to clear the stock for "something new" in the near future.

Exciting, because this is pointing towards a new model coming.

Pathetic, because Maxis Malaysia is the garbage dump for old Singaporean stock. Should the Maxis iPhone share the same product part number as per this link :- http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937, then that suspicion may be true. Bear in mind that the Indonesian iPhones are also probably linked back to Singtel as the Indonesian telco, Telkomsel has Singtel as part of its shareholder.
