when OMNIA II will be released?
OMNIA II 8GB already released in Singapore on Friday, 18th of July '09.

I'm waiting for the 16GB, but Samsung refused to give any informations regarding when and where it will be avaliable. I'm starting to get pissed with Samsung and am now considering HTC's Firestone.

1.can i backup the msg in .txt or other format like my current symbian phone do?
Yes, you can backup with Activesync to Outlook or the included MITs wizard software.

QUOTE(tommysasuke @ Jul 22 2009, 09:43 PM)
2.how long does it takes to get the GPS signal? 5minutes?more then 10 minutes? i mean without A-GPS.
Depands on your firmware.
First time starts GPS will be a little longer.
Under a clear blue sky will be faster.
Mine took about 2 seconds from the last location and about 3 minutes if from a different location.

QUOTE(tommysasuke @ Jul 22 2009, 09:43 PM)
3.can i turn off the camera snapping sound?
Yes, but since you're new, I don't recommend registry tweak.

Go to page 1 post #4 and click on A lots of useful tips for ur Omnia. On the new page, click on the subject How, What & Where and then Mute Camera & Video shutter sound.

Personally, I like it very much, it is very nice. Better than HTC Diamond. Only Samsung Singapore's Customer Service sucks.

Just try Hard Reset and see if it's okay.

BTW, what is your present firmware? PDA part and PHONE part.

very quick Ques.

is possible to surf on omnia during activeSync on my laptop?

my laptop have broadband connection.

i couldn't surf right now with omnia.

plz advice
Why do you want to surf on a smaller screen when you can do it on your laptop, obviously, with a bigger screen?

Anyway, I don't think you can do that with your laptops connection, but you can the other way round.

i just want to try google map & enhanced GPS setting on omnia, coz that application required internet connection,

on the setting>enhanced GPS setting

there's "auto download when connected to PC via activeSync", that's why assume when omnia connected to the laptop,
it will get internet connection too.

unfortunately, extra data download is failed even on activesync.

correct me if i'm wrong,
Enchanced GPS do update it's data when connected to Activesync. You have to checked that option.
But I don't think it's possible for Google Map or Internet.
Are you using WiFi for your lappy? You can set the Omnia to connect via WiFi.

do u know anything about custom roms? which one is the best one.. i looked at the link and it was like.. sooooo many of them? or only certain ones work for malaysia..
There are no "Best one". All are very good, it depands on which one suits your need. They are the hard works of all the chefs.
Yes, there are many and all of them, as long as it's for i900 GSM, it will work for all country.

QUOTE(gooni3 @ Jul 24 2009, 06:35 PM)
what are the benefits of using one? do u use any? and what version
Custom ROMs or Cooked ROMs had some original applications removed or some third party applications added.
While removing applications that you don't use, will gain some on your "Storage" (ROM) and "Program" (RAM) space. And including some other applications save your time of finding and installing them.

I, personally, like shokka9's ROMs. His latest one is v17 running on WM6.5.

QUOTE(gooni3 @ Jul 24 2009, 06:35 PM)
haha so many questions
No problem, as long as it is not repeated over and over again.

One advise though, if you use any of the custom ROMs, DON'T complain but please give commend, to the chef.

kk i will get that too n do some tweak on reg file.

thx man

-edited-
some tweaks on gps, be warned tho, messing with registry is on your own risk.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
The first tweak is to use the GPS without Enhanced GPS.
The question here is downloading xtra data through ActiveSync.

The second one, I don't quite agree because my registry is still "test.agps.com" and it works for me. (I don't know what is the 7275)

nope, i'm using DSL modem to connect internet...if got wifi, i wouldn't ask here biggrin.gif

if on wifi, i dont have any problem to download xtra data, google map, or anything..

is really weird, why the omnia have that option but it can't used.

thanks for ur reply...
I don't know.

It works for me all along, since I got my Omnia, from Official firmware until Custom ROMs, it still work fine to me.
Everytime I connect it to my PC through ActiveSync, the Enhanced GPS get updated.

Maybe you should try bro yamato's suggestion and get that new ver. of gps_xtra.

Ok after 1 day of usage it seems that the omnia is a great device with lost to offer. Still need to get used to the on screen keyboard. A little slow when typing messages.

I have 1 complaint. Battery life barely lasted me 1 day for some reason. Not sure why but here goes:

-Seller mentioned that he "upgraded" to latest Msia rom which has Chinese input enabled but I have not yet done a Hard reset
-I put the device into sleep mode using the power button but wake it up every once in awhile to play around with the functions quite frequently

Could it be my usage which is causing the battery to drain to quickly? Or would the hard reset rectify this?
Could be.
How much accumulated time you've used on your device?

QUOTE(wkyoong @ Jul 27 2009, 11:47 PM)
Also I find it a little hard to remove my omnia from the slipcase which is similar to the one as shown in this pic:

Oh. My apologies. I see. Well probably its worth a shot to try it. Should be better off than using this tight case.
That's strange.
During the time when I have not put on the IS, the Hard Case fitted very nicely with my device. The device will not drop out, but it is not so tight as you mentioned.
Only after I installed the IS, it becomes very tight.
Now, I seldom use the Hard Case. With IS, I just put it into my pocket and until now, there's no problem.

My hard case seems to be quite tight. Probably its not authentic since it was a free gift from the seller. It physically looks like the original but somehow it "feels" a little inferior in terms of quality. I guess i'll give IS a try. But im afraid that dust might collect along the edges of the protector and cause it to lose its adhesiveness
Well as long as it stays on I'll be happy. Just worried about the dust getting into the shield and byebye RM80  whistling.gif
Take a look at MINE. It was about 10 months old at that time and it is still the same now.

Seems like your screen is damage. Did you ever press it too hard, drop it or put it near a magnet (I don't know)?

Go change it. If it's still warranty, try to claim it.

Anyone knows where can I change the screen and will I be able to use my thumb with the screen change?
Old screen, new screen, 2nd hand set screen, all can be operate by finger. I use fingernail only if the icon is too small.

Why do you want to change your screen? Damage? It's not cheap, you know.

Official Firmware or Custom ROMs?

I don't know about Vista, didn't use it to flash before, but if you're talking about Custom ROMs, you can try THIS METHOD. I'm not sure whether it will work for Official Firmware or not. hmm.gif
