Sorry, borrow your topic to ask a question unrelated to yours.

Anyone knows if iPhone could listen to local radio channels?

Will iRadio from app store works?

Thanks in advance. smile.gif

may i know for those who is using maxis postpaid...
how to turn off the GPRS and EDGE settings so that we wont get charged extra when we accidentally used the data...
i dont want to jailbreak my phone...
so is there any other way to turn it off?
or only applicable to Jjailbreaked iphones?

the following technique is not working for me...
please advice...
QUOTE
the technique of entering gibberish on the APN column might not work on the maxis network network anymore (since they are now the official malaysian carrier).
If u wanna change the APN, just swap it with another "non-official" service provider sim card (can do it while the phone is on) then go edit the APN setting to anything u want, and then swap back to "official" carrier sim card.

Another new method is simply to change the .ipcc file via iTunes (Carrier update): http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/752226

@LizStephenie:

i don't think there's a way to do that unless your jailbreak your phone & use Cydia apps like SBSettings to disable 3G/EDGE.

@Richard988:

is your phone officially-unlocked?

Hi, have already tried the method that davidgarary73 mentioned. However, it doesn't have any response. I put it in DFU mode, and itunes can detect the phone in recovery mode. However, when itunes is preparing the iphone for restore, this msg comes out. " the iphone could not be restored. An unknown error occured(1601)" Anyone can help out with this? TQ

Wow..you changed my name..it's davidgary73, not davidgarary73..LOLZ. Anyway...

It's proven to work countless of times. Ask scoringmachine which i helped him yesterday and a few others here. They got their iPhone working with the solution provided below. Anyway, read the solution below:

1. Make sure the iPhone is not connected to the computer.

2. Close the itunes application and re-open it again.

3. Plug the usb bit to the computer

4. Hold the "home" button of the iphone

5. Now plug the dock connector bit to your iphone (without letting go the home button)

6. Await for further instructions on the screen and then release the "home" button.

7. Hold shift and click restore for Windows users and select the firmware. Hold Alt/Option button and click Restore for Mac users and select the firmware.

If you can't get it to work, i can't help you much and i'll leave it to others to help you. Look for Hanxz if you need help: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=826183&hl

hi all,
i'm planning to upgrade my firmware but not sure how to backup my application especially bitesms...
i want to keep the 2.7 version cause it's free...

how do i backup my application?

i figure out how to do for iTunes apps..but for bitesms, i dunno the way...thanks...

Added on May 3, 2009, 2:00 pmfrom one of the forum out there...here's the solution ..i need to get the DEB file for bitesms first...but then run terminal means what?

---------------------

run terminal and access to the folder that holds the xxxxxx.deb file

type : dpkg -i xxxxx.deb

u can install terminal in your iphone or run the terminal from WINSCP.

After install u can remove the .deb file if you wan..and refresh yr phone..shld be able to see the icon.

Uninstall thru cydia as per norm.

Alright,my sister has a friend over in US and she is planning to ask her friend to buy the iphone over there and bring it over here.
But she's worried about the iphone after it's unlocked in Malaysia.
She asked me to ask owners that owns an UNLOCKED Iphone.

Did anyone had any problems with the iphone after they unlocked it?
