Yes it does ,provided if you're going to use a good cable. If you plan to use RM 5 S-Video cable or the one provided by your video card - you'll not see any sort of improvement

the back sockets at my astro decoder is detoriating .. rusty and full of dust ... I just dont bother haiz .. only parents watch it ..

astro sux to the max la... won't even change to HD and keep coming up with extra channels.. Even our neighbour country SG is going HD for their TV program

Liew, I believe you can get more then hundred of channel. My setup can access about 200+++ channel. From DSTV Africa to Telstar 18 China...

Most carry in SD format but some with video quality is better than Astro.

Double standard law. Which all things considered, common. Why sultans, agongs, PM and big wigs can have while commoners like us cannot.

As for astro widescreen, you're not alone. I also complained because I found out that Playhouse Disney also affected (I fell in love with this puppet programme called 5 minutes more, and googled out the Australia website, which have a video of one episode in full widescreen glory). Sad thing is, they can do the cropping on the decoder end, the decoder is capable of receiving widescreen signal and then either cropping if setting is 4:3 or sending full picture if setting is 16:9. But the donkeys are doing the cropping on their end and transmitting in 4:3 only -.-

how they upgrade also useless if thier decoder still using lame composite or svideo out, unless they opt for higher end output,

I doubt that is going to change soon.

thats why i opt for china satelite dish, lol cheaper.. and more widescreen content

But won't the channel disappear after some time? That' s what happen to my colleague's illegal satelite.

u need to tune it alot, buy a motorize one , can switch direction and rescan, other forums have list all the common channel google it
