abyone knows whr the Astro going to upgrad?.....with HD?

Astro is too cheap to pay the license to stream HD. Hell, they can't even pay the license to stream in DVD quality. that's why Astro is still streaming in that lousy VCD format.

Not all programs though, majority of them are.

But mostly the dynasty channels, they're downconverted from 480p... doh.gif

Belief this, the animes on Animax are upscaled from 320x240...... whistling.gif
They have a hell of a good scaler to even make the animes watchable.

i did that but barely any difference (on an LG HD ready lcd tv)

i reckon the most "efficient" way of watching HD content now is to download files from internet and watch thorugh a HD player (cost RM300-400) or through PS3 (need conversion, but quite easy).

Or stream with Xbox 360, or buy a small computer connect to your HDTV.
I got my PC connected to HDTV with VGA cable, that's how I watch HD stuff, heck I stopped watching TV like 4 years ago LOL, too much garbage on the TV for me dude.

Conclusion, Astro sucks. Repeat same thing over and over, have to pay double for crappy shows (not to mention everything censored and make it "U" rated from "M"), and too cheap to offer anything new and better like HD without incurring more charges. I was quite shocked as well when they decide to make people pay to watch Olympics. It's that suppose to be free since it's sports meant to bring the world together? And stupidly enough, instead of offering more exiciting show which is rarely shown on public tv, they decide to go all Chinese dramas (I mean a lot of chinese dramas) which we can get for free with *ahem satellite, 200+ channels of them. Genius!

I think it will be a while for Astro to be HD. In order to be HD we have to change the decoder. It's all up to the consumer if it willing to pay. They have already launched the third Measat satellite that is capable to broadcast in HD. Unless we are willing to pay more that what we pay right now for better service. Consider this is the best resolution that we can get. Like me, I've already give up on Astro. Just go online download all my shows in HD. Even better.
