Your lens seems to suffer from front focus. smile.gif

i heard thats a common problem on the sp90..
but it might b due to my postprocessing..all the 3 pics were heavily gaussian blurred as per the girls request...my later pics with sp90 looks okay to me..

and which lens for landscape will be affordable for a beginner?
the tamron 90mm f2.8 mainly for potrait only?
LOL.    icon_question.gif  notworthy.gif thanks.

No need to worry yourself sick over a lens for landscape. Your 18-70mm kitlens icon_rolleyes.gif will serve you very well for landscape until you feel the need for a 'faster' or 'sharper' or 'wider' lens.

Do not underestimate the kitlens. I am basically still shooting with a 'kit lens' - the 18-250mm that is bundled as a kit lens for the A700 here! Hehehehehehe!

So shoot first, buy later.

Is it? I've never owned a SP90 before. Have you tried sending back for calibration or something? I don't think it's due to post processing as if you see the 3 pictures, it's sharper on the clothes instead of the eye of subject. .

if i nt wrong..it means that ur camera/lens suppose to focus at the subject..but instead..it focuses at the point slightly front of the point u wan it to be...

@viking
ya..i think i came across with a few ppl with the front/back focus with tamron...nt sure whether my lens had the prob..but another point to note is..for all that 3 pictures..its actually my first time using the lens..and first time manual focusing...could it b my prob?lol

Front focus is a lens defect whereby your lens tend to focus slightly in front of the focus point you intend to focus.

The burnt out skin tone and the harsh shadow is a nono. Use a reflector or flash?
