you gotta hold AEL while turning the dial... if you're adjusting ss apt automatically change by itself to make sure exp is balanced... and if adjusting apt, ss will change as well to make sure exp is balanced.... guys correct me if wrong...

when you press the shutter release button, I think by now you know the focus will lock. At the same time, the exposure - shutter speed and/or aperture (depending on which mode you on) will also lock. When you full press, the picture is taken with what you focused with the exposure selected. HOWEVER, if you were to recompose before fully press, the shutter speed and/or aperture will change according to the object exposure.

For example, you want to take a building with a sky background in the afternoon. When you focus the building and half press the shutter release, you may get F4, 1/200s. Then you recompose, where the focus point now is the sky - you may get F4, 1/500s. If you were to fully press, the building will become dark. So before you recompose, press and hold the AEL button, both shutter speed and/or aperture will remain no matter where you are recomposing now

that is the AEL button.

if you don't prefer HOLD, you can toggle it so that when you press 1 time, AEL will ON. Press again, AEL will off

compose ur exposure first... lock it.... (u chosen HOLD or TOGGLE? doesnt matter lah)
after u lock AEL.... move ur cam around.. it will still has the same exposure rite? the ss & aperture...

mostly used to capture multiple scenery to create a panorama shot... u merge a few pic together..
same exposure in many picture makes it easy for u to stitch later... if not.. diff pic might be darker/etc...

or..... maybe in low light ka.. u wan to capture people in event... that person u wanna capture is not there yet..
but u lock the exposure first... then when the person came.. u simply shoot shoot lah.. (imagine in a singing event)

I use hold cause don't want to accidentally trigger it but when I need to use AEL Lock, toggle seems to be much easier when you wanna recompose.
