to all F42 and F58 owners...what do you find missing in ur F42?
for F58 users what do u always use that is missing in F42?
*
What's missing? It's obvious lar.... the F58 has the cobra action and once you have felt it, you will miss it when it's not there. Honest!

When I first got my F42, I did not feel that it was missing anything. It's a wonderful flash, don't get me wrong, but once the cobra came in, it was the fast switch from landscape to portrait orientation and back that will win you over without you knowing it. There were times when I was using the F42 that I wanted to push it to the side and then only did I realized how much I was using the cobra action and how natural it felt. The push button and twist action on the F42 felt like it was a bit odd and was slower to execute. That's what you would miss most!

The F42 is a bit faster to adjust the flash power and zoom settings as there are 2 separate dedicated buttons for them and you just press either to scroll through the various settings. On the F58 you need to press 2 buttons before you get to switch the settings for either flash power or zoom.

And of course the F58 looks big and intimidating and when you turn it sideways in front of some brand fanboys, it just adds to the cool factor!! icon_rolleyes.gif

Read the manual, it is stated there

here is my non savvy explanation that I know. You can google for more biggrin.gif
when SSS is on, it can compensate some to your shaky hand. You shake a bit left, SSS compensate right.
when on the tripod, there will be no shake shake.... but SSS will still compensate some. So, a stabilized shot on a tripod can be blur due to SSS on while on tripod

Here are some google results biggrin.gif
