i've always wondered, those 1k above jackets compared to the few hundred ringgit ones, what is the pros & cons that results in such a dramatic price difference? Say compare those by outdoor companies to the ones by Timberland which are much cheaper.
I'll be heading to New Zealand in a few months and I still haven't got a windbreaker yet.

You can get it in kundasang or a market on the way to KK. If you follow tour i think they will bring you to buy it.

Hi bro,
I just come bk from KK few days ago and the weather is really unpredictable up there. When we reach there it is raining heavily near the registration office. During our hike we have a good sunny weather but it started to rain quite heavy after we reach Laban Rata.

I am unable to complete my summit the next day due to i experience 'wind' in the stomach and i had terrible vomit. Not sure izit because of the altitude or mayb i got 'cold' during the hike up there as my porter follow the last person of my team. I even feel cold in my jacket and blanket. Anyone experince this before?
Most likely what is the problem? Hope to learn and not repeat the same mistake next time.
I arrived rather earlier and my body is all sweat without a proper cloth to change. It is a mistake i didnt bring an extra shirt for my backpack as i tot the porter will reach earlier then me. My porter reach 3 or 4 hours later following the last member.

Hardware shop got.

Btw, I just want to share with you. Its better for you to send those shoes to professional cobbler (Cobbler at Mall). Just say, you want cushion for heel. Ur heel will get blister.

They will stick the leather cushion and sew abit. Very neat work. By sewing, eventually the leather cushion won't peel off. sweat.gif

A good waterproof jacket (if you use the word jacket usually it's mean for colder climates) with fleece layered..
usually it's more convenient to buy soft shell jacket, I am not aware of Malaysia pricing but in UK it would cost around 80~150 pounds.. it's not durable but it's light

goretex is just one of the very famous fabric that is water proof but breathable(debatable).. Other thing to take note is
1) do you need hood
2) ease of wearing (some with and without zip, both with pro and cons)
3) fitting
4) durability
5) waterproof properties will fade over time
6) how small it folds up into
7) Price $$
8) Brand you support

does soft shell jacket have the water resistant and wind breaker feature?

mind to tell in which month you are going and which trek you're going to hike?

if you stop by christchurch, there's a Kathmandu outlet shop there. the goods might have minor defect but selling at much cheaper price. i think it's more cheaper to get your gear there than in msia winter wear shop.

Wait, if we didn't cushion the heels, most likely we'll get blisters from wearing the plain kampung adidas shoes?

Yes. Some people got blister. Some not.
Alter the adidas kampung will get rid all the problem such as blister. One more problem is the airflow. Put extra cushioning inside the insole. Pharmacy also got. Scholl brand.

If not, your feet will get sweat and eventually become smelly. Long term effect also can got blister. nod.gif

Can we just ask the cobblers to just add extra cushioning rather than buying additional cushions from pharmacies?

I haven't seen a jacket that can be worn during summer wor haha..
you mean with removable fleece?

Material wise there's only a few type of waterproof breathable fabric.. I have done the research last time but can't remember..

If it's fleeced no matter how small it won't be smaller than a soft shell.. a soft shell would be already so light that if you insist on being lighter, you will be paying exponentially higher and sacrificing some sort of durability
*
Mine doesn't come with removable fleece. Fleece I buy separate fearing that the zipper will spoil in long run usage smile.gif
