Hi...there are but the more known ones like Subang Lake (fishing) are all fished out.
Titiwangsa is having problems with its water quality. Batu Dam allows no fishing, let alone camping. There are popular rivers as well but they are normally overcrowded with morons who leave the place filled with rubbish after their 'nature trip'. I suggest you join some of the local groups to discover some of the hidden places . Good luck! |

I'm planning a leisure camp on a beach this December. Need some recommendations about whr to go.
It'll be a small group. Maybe 4-5 people only. A night or two, depending on the situation. In the daytime I was thinking to visit some local tourism spots (if any), then at night enjoy the seaside. Plan to do a BBQ also with own equipment if necessary. Rather worried about safety... human and nature. It'll be monsoon season, so the East Coast might not be safe. Any beach which are safe to camp and are not too crowded? Preferably not on an island. |

Morning06...tents are good overall shelters but probably not the best when you want to walk long hours and camp in the jungle.
I am NOT saying it is not good. But consider trying hammocks. They are more practical in our jungle. Tents more suitable for top of the mountains, beach (no trees) and established parks (Hutan Lipur etc). Nichi...for as long as you go to beaches accessible easily to people, you are at risk of being robbed etc. The bigger your group, the safer you may be. I would suggest you consider either two options. 1...go to beaches with plenty of people. Even places like PD because there are many people, help is easier to get. Option 2...go to really remote beaches where no other humans are around. But do this only if you and your group are competent campers. You MUST know what you are doing and you MUST let the authorities know where you are. Happy camping! |

QUOTE(Meepomop @ Dec 23 2009, 01:02 AM) Hi guys There are many places to camp and to be honest, with the current season, rivers are not the best place for the time being. Flash floods have claimed a few lives and the dangers are real. i just wanted to ask you guys where is the best spot for a camping trip.Me and my friends just finished SPM(wooo) haha.So we decided to go camping. With No knowledge about camping whatsoever,we're stuck.xD. I strongly suggest that you consider finding a few experienced friends to go with. Start with something easy and safe and gradually make your way to trips that are more adventurous. One of the best place I can suggest is for Chilling Waterfall. You are NOT allowed to camp at the waterfall but a good campground with good and clean facility has been build at the park entrance. The park rangers are there too. Go there and try your first camping there. During the day, you guys can go to the waterfall (but check for safety with the park rangers first). Chilling has in the past claim some lives! |
