Puchong Hill refering to Wawasan still able to hike up but once you trespass the area following the trail that lead to the pool, you could be penalize as it is under UPM helm.

It was the research forest of UPM.. Just many people going there doesn't make it legit

BTW, I am looking to invest some good camps (2 mans), stove and sleeping bags (tropical). Would want some durable preferable.

Not sure what else I should get for my upcoming camping trip (my friends usually have everything, just thought about time to invest little bit by bit)

Everyone have their own point of view.

Define famous trails by hikers? I am a regular hiker and I doesn't find that trail famous at all besides having the deep pool. If you talk about famous - perhaps Broga, Saga and Tabur or even Gasing I will understand.

The area are meant for foresty students to learn about the environment and in fact the state government already lease the area to UPM since 1996 (resources: http://www.pertanika.upm.edu.my/Pertanika%...2029-34%29.pdf) (resources: https://selangorhijau.wordpress.com/category/mpsj/)

Since it is an area under UPM, they have all the right to protect the area from trespassers. They used to be okay about few years ago until the drowning case and people start to litter along the trail and bring animals to the water area.

Hashers start to bash certain trail and destroy the plants and trees just for their thrill seeker. I choose to avoid this area because there are plenty of trails out there, just some are lazy to do their studies and stick to the comfort zone.

Just my 2 cents smile.gif

For 2 men, go for the 3 men to have better space. If you do not opt for light weight, you can consider Coleman's Sundome series. I used them in the past, not too bad but these days I prefer fly+ground or hammock+fly.

Stove depends on individual as some prefers gas cylinder bottle, some prefers gas canister. From there you can decide which you will be your preferance.

As for the sleeping bag, advisable to get those bags with +12 degree comfort zone. Coleman type are big and bulky for camping but they are comfortable. You can opt for Deuter which will be ranging from 180-220 if I am not mistaken.

I got mine from an Ebay reject shop (returned goods but no problem). Only cost me like RM75 by then, really like it and around 13c comfortable temperature. Actually it's perfect for our climate (too thin for UK tho).

Now thinking to get another similar, but the price for my current sleeping bag (size and weight) would range around RM200 back here.

I am thinking about Hammock too, but as you know my weight.. I think camps are more practical, yeah, thinking of getting a 3 men too.. (not to get too up close and personal tongue.gif). Let me go around and shop.

Let me list out some store, add on if you know more

Corezone seems to target the high end.
Explorer Outfitter seems to be the lower - Mid end
World Of outdoor is around mid to high end
Evergreen in Bandar Tun Razak (haven't been)

Even if you opt for a 3 men tent it is still quite near to one and another. Bags will still need to be place outside to allow more space for the head/leg placement. Best advice to get a tent, if it is 2 person kept add 1 to the tent size. For example, 2 men - 3 men tent, 4 men - 5/6 men tent.

The hammock can support your weight. Just need to make sure the knot you tied strong enough, cannot use those thin nylon strings. Problem with hammock, certain mountains got no trees at the campsite. Even with camp, I prefer to have fly+ground as Coleman fly are not strong enough to resist a strong rainfall and it could be an issue when you want to grab some sleep.

Corezone at SS2 and Lafuma at Bangsar memang high value but I do grab certain things there like hiking bags, inflatable matress, shoes, etc. Explorer Outfitter at Publika could be a good option if you are new into camping. Evergreen are famous for their blue gas canister called Camping Gas especially the CV470 series.

the 2 men camp in Msia seems to only accommodate 2 kids lolx.
While the 8 men camp that I use in UK (not for hiking tho), can accommodate 10 with their luggage in their tent

I totally agreed with you on the Malaysia version. It seems smaller and will be hard for people with the height of 170cm above. Width not long enough somewhere, somehow.

Nuang still got a little view where you head downhill towards Janda Baik route and you are able to get a glimpse of the catchment area. Besides that, there are hardly anything to see. There used to be view at Puncak Pengasih (false peak) but I am not sure how's the condition over there now.

Bukit Indah and Bukit Kembara at Ampang. Entry point is near towards the Darul Ehsan golf course sandwich in between two houses. Trek up like Bukit Saga for about 10-20 minutes and you will reach a catchment area.

To Bukit Kembara it is opposite of the catchment area where your position at and that will take you another 30 minutes top to trek to the peak of Bukit Kembara.

Used to have another Bukit there but unfortunately it is already dense with fallen bamboos and trees when I last went there back in 2012.

Walking around the catchment area will easily take you another 30-45 minutes top.

But do beware of thieves or robbers as the place gets pretty quiet after 9.30 AM as not much people know the route.

EDIT: - I attached one link for your better understanding
