hey guys,

wanna ask something that i need to clear up.....so i heard and read in this thread that optical and laser mouse's performance maybe affected by what type of mouse pads/mats used....another question that was raised was the teflon feet of mice. Someone also said that hard pads/mats will be good for tracking(preferably laser) but will wear out the teflon coat faster. For soft pads/mats,(some say laser and optical works fine but preferably optical) the teflon coating does not wear and tear like the hard pads hence prolonging the product life.

So all these ifo i got is from ppl saying(typing). i can't find prove as to these sayings from trustable sites( cnet..etc etc.) So bottomline is.....which of them are correct and is it a supported fact?

p/s: planning to get a sidewinder or g5 but wan to have it working as long as possible...hence the questions.

on my experience, wat those people say is true.
hard pad eat mouse feet faster, but unless you intense mousing for 8 hours a day, if not can tahan oso, for like half year, depends on the thickness of your mouse feet. and in my experience, optical and laser track equally well at hard pad. btw, you can get mosue feet replacement easily ah if kena eat mouse feet xD

soft pad optical track well, laser i duno. and ya soft pad i cant feel the decrease-ness of the mouse feet thickness, even after 1 year use of death adder on everglide titan. so i figure soft pad eat very very minimum of mouse feet smile.gif

Logitech G5. End of discussion. Best mouse ever. If you're on a tighter budget, the MX518 would do the job.

for me, i think you should have prioritize your own budget first, then you need to choose in between performance or ergonomics and what game will you played on with the mouse? cheers
