Hello ! I am gf lover !!
I have 1 orandas from Thailand,2 lion head, 2 fantail and 1 ping pong pearl scales.
2 lionhead of mine passed away 2 weeks ago =( I think its poor water quality because i pour water from fish shop into my tank !! A huge mistake.

Filter using E-jet 3378 canister.
Powerhead cannot helps much. Water still cloudy . So i upgraded to canister filter.

In 27 gallon tank, will this overstocking??

what i know is that 1 goldfish need 37-40 liter of water,
My tanks now is 120 liter of water with only 2 goldfish, i have been keeping it for a year now...without any sickness or death.
change water 40-50% every weeks...sometimes once in every 2 weeks when i dont have time...but keep it once a week if possible.
before that i experienced many kind of sickness and death,

I used Hagen Hang on the back filter + cap ayam hang on the back + GEX internal bubbler filter....

Hi All,

Newbie here got some question...

Plan to upgrade my 2 feet tank. What is usual good aquarium size for goldfish? is it 4 feet or 5 feet?
Anyone could get good price for it plus cabinet in Puchong area?..

I like Ryukin and have 3pcs each of red/white and gold China Ryukin.
Is there available of black&red and green Ryukin in Malaysia? If yes, location?
Sakura also nice...

TQ....

im interested to keep goldfish and have very little knowledge about it.. i really appreciate ifanyone can advise.

1) i have 1.5 ft tank (10 gallon/40 litre) for 2 goldfish (size around 5 cm from head to tail).. is it enough? i read that 1 goldfish need at least 20 gallons, is there any reason for this?
2) do i need to put a little salt ?
3) what food do u always feed ur goldfish
4) how many times that i need to change my water (using RESUN biostream filter)? should i change only 1/3 of the water?

pardon for my bad english.. any advise will b much appreciated

Hi Everyone,

I need your expert advice. Recently, my whole goldfish tank was infected with Velvet disease (due to over crowding and lack of water change). I was recommended Azoo Goldfish Magic Treatment. And within days, all were healthy again after 90% daily water change and lots of salts.

But my black Ranchu (attached photos) still have these whietish things forming around both of its eyes. It doesn't seems to be able to see (because I approach it, it doesn't response) and now it just hoover at the top of the tank. I am afraid I might loose it if I don't take any action.

Can anyone please help?

I still continue 90% daily water change, clean 2 of my 3 filters, and it seems to be eating well.

Thanks Roz for asking, unfortunately, my Ranchu Xiao Hey died after 2 days. I was devistated as it was my favourite fish. After a week or so, another 2 fantail goldfish died also. These 2 goldfish did not exhibit any external signs or problems except they stopped eating at first, and stopped swimming and were gasping for air at their final hour.

I still don't know what happened as I couldn't find any cause and solution from the net. Luckily, the rest of the goldfish are doing ok. I suspected the water maybe the cause as I lives in condominium and the water are from water tank; sometimes the water is very dirty especially when they clean the tank.

I stop buying or adding any new goldfish to avoid over crowding the tank, and I continue with daily water change and tons of salt.

I have been keepping goldfish for ages, this is the first time I encountered 'diseases' that I don't understand. I also suspected internal viral or bacteria infections, but not sure of the exact infection and its treatment. I asked the LFS owner, he said cloudy eyes are due to brushing against sharp objects/surface or infections, but the Azoo medication sure didn't help.

So far, my principle of constant water changes and salts work every time, except these incidents. I hope anyone equipped with better knowledge or experience can advice.

from my exp. cloudy eyes will lead to eyes dropping out and the gf will eventually leave.

if it is not severe, it can be cured with yellow powder. but i only manage to save one eye only.

after 2 weeks. it stop eating and passed away.

most probably is all about viral infection.

Thanks NelsonBoy for sharing.

For the benefit of fellow hobbyists, I noted that the Azoo Goldfish Magic Treatment has Formalin in it. I didn't know Formalin was so lethal. (Formalin in Chinese is 福马林)

"Formalin is commonly used in aquariums to prevent the growth of bacterial parasites that prey on fish. It is ineffective against other types of parasites, however, including insects, larvae, and fungi. Formaldehyde kills bacteria not by poisoning them, but by dehydrating them, causing the normal fluid in the cells to coagulate, or become rigid. The formaldehyde therefore remains within the living organism rather than being expelled through the liver and kidneys as a typical toxin would be. For this reason, the amount of formaldehyde solution used in an aquarium or pond must be carefully determined to avoid dehydration of the fish."

This Azoo product maybe effective in getting rid of the Velvet disease, but indirectly, I think I have 'over dosed' my tank with Formalin, which I think also killed some of my 'weaker' goldfish. I also understand Formalin consumes oxygen, hence may have doomed my fantail goldfish. So do becareful when using medications with Formalin in it.

usually i'll just chose the fish that is active (swimming), & also see if the scales broke or not.

Recently into goldfish. A few questions.

1) My small tank around 15-18 litres feeding 9 gold fish. All small size, around 3-4cm without tail. Is the tank big enough? If not, how many litres of tank that I need?

2) The shop that I brought goldfish recommend us to buy Tension Gon and Taiyo PSBIO (Photosynthetic Bacteria). Is that necessary?

3) Currently feeding flakes type of fish food. Is that good enough?

4) My tank always look dirty even through I put a big hanging filter? Any idea to make it clear and clean?

Thanks first for all the answer.
