I am using 2 and half feet water tank with 3 gold fish.

can I know which type of external filter to use ?

also can someone recommend me where to buy the big/giant gold fish, i.e. 9in goldfish.

For goldfish, it's always recommended to use filter with flowrate 8-10x to tank volume.
ie. If you tank is 20gallon, using 160-200gph filter should be fine.

can I know Eheim or other canister type is very maintenance friendly ?

I am using white foam filter. normally after 5 to 7 wash I throw away cause the filter is dark, can not be cleaned. Someone said that they are good batteria in the filter. so am i doing wrong ?

is that a reason to go canister type filter with water skimmer? note I am just rearing gold with no grass, sand or whatsoever.

my tank is 100 litre. so i guess 500 litre/hr filter is good enuf. i am considering eheim 2213. will it be good for gold fish ?

I manage to get some good goldfish at cheras area near PGRM. it is a pair of gold fish for RM 60. the goldfish shop is near the famous char siu shop.

Goldfish are messy eater and generates lots of waste.
Clear water does not necessary means clean water.

Use biological media in your filter to cultivate beneficial bacteria, you'll need lots of those especially when you are running your tank bare bottom.

And remember to change 40-50% water weekly. Enjoy your new goldfish.

i am looking for exotic gold fish and prefer the place where they are a lot of aquarium like the Tung Choi street in hong kong.

OK. I went today. the quality of fish there is for general market. I am looking for exotic type. e.g. lionhead. etc.

I went to That shop also. not much on gold fish.

I found the malaysia fish market is very expensive. the exotic fish in China is so much cheaper, and they provide transport service.

i wonder if anyone can recommend any online/ facebook aquarium for gold fish.

strategy wise, how can we get closer to the breeder ?

Check out Atari koi for your exotic goldfish needs. They import from China and Thailand.
Lots of big beautiful ranchu and ryukin. But not cheap.
Atarikoi is at Taman Desa.
2 lots away from Atari is another exotic goldfish place.
Happy goldfishing.

thanks guys for your help.

I used a 2 1/2 ft tank with 5 gold fish (medium, 6in)

I checked the ammonia level and found its 2ppm. is this a concern ?

for info, I had put a pack of activated carbon, but I research and found AC does not absorp ammonia. So I will add in zeolite to the filter cartridge. hope I am in the right direction. any comments welcome.

help needed : after I put in a pack of zeolite, my water has turned from crystal clear to milky. I have stopped using the zeolite and how do I make it clear again

A very good day to all the gold fish lovers, I am moving into a house with pond and I have decided to cover it. Currently there are two gold fish been left in the pond and I have no idea what to do with it. Will someone kind enough to adopt them? They both look adorable. FYI, I have no experience dealing with fish. I am staying around Puchong. Looking for help :-(

definitely. can you shoot a photo and pm?

by the way, I just checked my water again and I was blink blink. the ammonia level in my fish tank goes down to 0 ppm.

I think thanks to the good bacteria that grows in the canister, after running for 2 weeks.
