used to have lionheads and ranchus here. but all died due to disease

Hi Lance8431 how long have you been keeping goldfish? you must choose a healthy goldfish before you buy it from the shop. The most important is water quality the water must be clean to keep it away from disease. I m not a pro but if you need help i will give you some information, i need to know the size of the aquarium you use how many fish you keep at that time?

i like gold fish but my bf hates animal. any tips on howto win his heart? he hates animal because he is lazy to take care of the animal. oh!

i have been keeping gold fish at least for 10 years

Added on August 14, 2007, 1:30 amOne thing i learned from my primary teacher. GOldfish must live in clean water, but not too clean. And cannot live intoo dirty water.... IT's like not too clean and not too dirty environment..... IM not shure but is my teacher lying? wakkakakkaa

Goldfish need a very clean water to survive and free from disease clean water means water is not cloudy or smelly water but of course can still find dirt floating in water and you don't need to change all the water to get a clean water all the time.

changing water once a week should be sufficient

changing 20% to 25% of water every week is good, so how many goldfish do you keep? what type of goldfish do you keep?

i've been into fish 7 years already..guppy,discus,goldfish all kept b4..now start again with goldfish..
currently having,short tail ryukin,black oranda,normal oranda,crown pearscale..black butterfly..

Wow so many goldfish what size of tank you use? All this goldfish must very expensive one.

my tank is 2.5 feet..using canister filter..weekly 80% water change..feed twice daily with hikari gold..

My tank is 4 feet using wet dry filter with 5 goldfish, weekly 25% water change and feeding 3 times a day with astro spirulina and shrimp. Not yet feed with Hikari gold but going to try one day.

No not yet, anything different? Everyday i feeds with a high protein foods. Until now still healthy and no disease.

Hi there, yet another goldfish lover here of just 8 months!

I have a 4X2 sized pool with 10" of depth with 8 occupant of mostly Ranchus and 2 Ryukins. One ranchu died 2 months ago.

It's kept in my semi-outdoor courtyard and is using UV filters to keep the water from turning green!

I have a question:
I had a 1 inch long 'bandaraya' which has grown larger (4") than the main occupants.
Recently i have discovered that it'll hunt down a particular goldfish. At first i thought it was just 'extra' active. That particular ranchu then developed a rash on it's body. I then exchanged the 4 inch long 'bandaraya' for a 1 inch long infant and asked the aquarium shop owner regarding how to heal my ranchu.

He recommend me a sachet of yellow pellets which i then poured a little to my pond. It turned green. According to him, the scales of my ranchu will be ok within the next day!

My ranchu which died 2 months ago have also develop the same symptoms. Later the skin seems to rot and i separated it onto another tank. It was alive but motionless (even when it was in the main pool).

Have you guys got any other opinion? Tks

I think the rash is cause by your 'bandaraya' this fish suck your goldfish body until the scales coming off sometime up to flesh, so when there is no scale proctection the goldfish can be easily affected by all sort of bacteria.

Usually this affected area need a lot of care and time, the affected area must be treated clean with special antibiotic and medicine, although you are using a uv filter but there is still a bacteria not all bacteria can be destroys.
