I have been using DIGI’s earlier version of broadband which uses the EDGE technology for 2 years now. It served its purpose in the beginning as I am not a heavy user. However, over the last few months, I find that it is practically useless as it keeps going offline. As it was a 2 year contract, I have to continue paying the monthly fee even though I hardly get to use it now. Nowadays, I have had to resort to looking for WIFI enabled places to do most of my web surfing.

As the contract is nearing its end, I have been looking for an alternative. Looking at P1 W1MAX’s latest promotion where we get a 1 month trial period certainly looks enticing. But then, DIGI has also rolled out its new broadband which is supposed to be much faster than those offered by the other networks. It is contract-free and considering DIGI’s option offer more mobility, it is definitely a contender. Although P1 W1MAX’s answer to mobility is the WIGGY, even their reseller tells me that it is not reliable at the moment. Looking at their coverage map, both DIGI and P1 have good coverage in my area.

I have recently found out DIGI has set up kiosks where we are able to test out their broadband. While I have not tried it, it must mean they are quite confident of their performance. However, will DIGI be giving me the same problem 2 years down the road when they get more subscribers ? One P1 W1MAX reseller was telling me as DIGI’s system has to cope with voice calls, sms and the likes in addition to data traffic, their system is liable to being clogged as compared to P1 WIMAX which is solely for data traffic. Is this true or are they just pulling wool over my eyes ? Incidentally, one P1 W1MAX reseller told me there is plan to provide voice call service through their modem in the future too.

Based on my limited knowledge, I would say DIGI is a better bet. Anyone thinks differently ?
*
My opinion is always side to Digi as there is no contract and you can terminate it at anytime. Besides, in terms of mobility, Digi is definitely better than P1. Also, we can use Digi modem for other ISP, e.g Celcom, Maxis but P1 modem is only usable with P1.

I don't like P1 also is because of the high start-up fee, e.g activation fee, registration fee, higher modem cost and the worst is the contract.

Note: Digi is contractless only if you buy your own modem. Otherwise, there is penalty if you terminate your account in less than 1 year.

Based on the terms, I agree that DIGI is the better choice but what bugs me is that I have been using DIGI EDGE and I am suffering from the system persistently going offline all the time.

If I am not mistaken, it is not a penalty if you terminate before 1 year. It's just that you have to pay the remainder of the installments on the modem.

Added on October 13, 2009, 5:01 pmDIGI is offering the DISCOVER package at 1 Utama 14-18 October at 48.00

Wonder what's the catch.
*
Yes, you're right. It's just the balance of the modem price, like we buy our own modem. But, to me, this also kind of penalty whereas you can get the modem for free if you didn't terminate it before 12 months.

On disconnection issue, actually i had similar issue with Digi BB at the beginning but the issue had root-caused to my router driver issue. After upgrade my router firmware, it's worked perfectly!

Also worth to mention that so far I'm satisfied with Digi CS when I called them up to resolve all kind of non-Digi BB issue (after troubleshooting, only found out it's mine issue). They didn't simply point the issue to your site as like other ISP. However, that was when Digi BB is still new... I don't know if Digi can maintain the service quality nowadays.

sad.gif  I just subscribe to Digi broadband today... this is my speed

The coverage from the website show the area i am in is covered...sad sad.gif

May be try this again and if you can't get >700kbps/200kbps at 70% of time then file a ticket to Digi... that's the committed speed from Digi at 70% of time.

Besides, this could be your modem issue as well... last time, I got a faulty modem which I never got >100kbps upload speed... issue just resolved easily by changing my modem. If you suspect the issue is due to your modem, just bring and test it at any Digi centre... they're ok to test it out for you.

i wonder is there any coverege to apply in kepong jinjang here? and is there any refund if really not meet up the speed i required?
*
Digi will only refund you if your place is officially covered by Digi BB and you return it within 7 days... Btw, the speed is based on the LAS, not what we expected....

Maybe u r connecting to EDGE, since u think r in the 3g coverage, maybe u should set the digi software to "WCDMA Preferred"
*
Even with EDGE, it should not be that low... when I'm out of 3G coverage, I can get ~0.2Mbps for EDGE...

True, they finally activated my line this morning but that was after all those calls to the dealers last night. I don't know if it would have happened otherwise.

In any case, why should we accept 24 hours activation as norm ? After all, we are required to pay up in advance.

They need to do better. If waiting is one of my better virtues, I would have stuck with TM Net dial up.

This is the age where things happen in mini/micro seconds. Even the immigration department managed to shorten their passport renewal time from 1 week to 1 day and now to just a few hours. It's a question of whether there is a will to change and whether they cared enough. If we continue to pamper them they will continue to be complacent.
*
I'm also a Digi postpaid user and did have such an issue when signed up my Digi BB (which activated in less than 3 hours, would be even shorter as i went to shopping after done the registration)... I registered in Digi Specialized Store...

I'd recommend those need Digi BB urgently to go DIRECTLY to Digi centre or Digi Specialized Store where they can almost activate the service immediately upon registration...

Personally, I don't trust those promoter as they can give you all kind of promise and all kind of false information which end up just annoying myself...

If you use close to 10gb per month then i think it's much safer to stay with the explore plan. You'll never know in the near future when digi will start implementing FUP and then regret that you changed package. But if you use an average of 3gb per month, then it's a different story la... tongue.gif
*
Yes, i do agree this... if the usage is >5GB, then it'll be better to stay with Explore (RM0.15 / 10MB, 1GB = RM15, 2GB = RM30, RM58+RM30 = RM88). We don't know when we will get charged for the extra...

Now, you can enjoy Digi 3G with prepaid & postpaid already... i think the most important thing is for Digi to maintain its service quality.

Hi all, may I know if we still cannot check our monthly usage quota other than checking thru modem statistics?

Thanks.
*
At this moment, there is no other way of tracking except for the modem statistics (before the bill is out)... But, that's still an unofficial one, the official number will need to wait until your bill is out.

This has been feedback to Digi long time ago and they're working on the solution right now... Base on my last update that I got from Digi CS, the solution could be ready by end of the year....

I'm currently using Celcom BB but lately the speed and signal dissapoint me very very much.
Since I'm with Digi for my prepaid line , I would really like to POTONG off that Celcom Broadband and join you guys for the Explore package @ Rm98.00 per month. What do you guys think ?
I'm so so unbearable with the Celcom speed lately as it's like going back last time surfing with Netspace @ 56k which is slow and un-stable at all.
And how much do you guys think it makes a difference for a 3.6mbps Modem with a 7.2mbps modem ? Since they're having free modem for Explore package and Extreme package , should I pay another ten bucks for the explore package and get the free modem ? Anyone know what brand is that ?

Thank you in advanced.
*
Base on my personal experience, there is no different between 7.2Mbps or 3.6Mbps modem for explore/discover package. You only need 7.2Mbps for extreme package.

Hi guys i just signed up a DiGi BB package with Rm58 and rm15 for the modem which is rm73 per month(speed might be decrease to edge after i exceed the quota) in penang...i wanted to sign up for the RM48 plan but i don't get to buy the E1550 modem,i have no choice but to choose that Rm58 plan + Rm15 modem per month...so is it worth to go for Rm88 per month with free modem and 10GB usage...??can i buy the E1550 modem without the Rm58 or 88 plan?? and the 58 plan is it unlimited after i exceed 3Gb quota i wouldn't be charged 0.15sen/mb??  rclxub.gif

Thanks In Advance  smile.gif
*
People usually confuse on the term of "unlimited"... first of all, there is NO UNLIMITED AT NORMAL SPEED for most of the packages in the market... if you really want UNLIMITED AS NORMAL SPEED, then you have to pay more...

The unlimited here means UNLIMITED BROWSING WITH CAPPED SPEED AFTER EXCEED THE QUOTA...

For your RM58+RM15 modem Discover package, it should be the original Discover package where Digi will charge you at RM0.15/10MB after your 3GB usage. I heard someone didn't get charged for this but this assumption is NOT safe!

The new Discover plan (I see promotion in Gurney Plaza yesterday) at RM48/month for first 12 months will not charge you extra when over the 3GB.

You can definitely upgrade your Discover to Explore but I don't know if you entitle for the RM88 as it's only for new subscriber.

this rm5 is for digi prepaid lines, the digi prepaid's website TOC says like the one i posted, while the digi 3G's website says additional usage are throttled to 128kbps. Which one is true?
*
I think it's best to get a black & white from Digi... I have a gut feeling that Digi sees some misuse in their network now...

I have a question... how do i see how much bandwidth i have use thus far in OCS?  Is it on the Unbilled Transaction -> View Call details like the normal phone does?
*
Currently, there is no official way to get your usage status... The only way but unofficial is only from the log of your modem software...

Nowadays, you get nothing from OCS, Unbilled Transaction... even you got it, the figure is also not correct.

during my trip to genting....the speed seem abit upset...
at edge speed i suppose to be getting 250kbps but seem i gettting lower speed than that...
running ping test and speedtest also fail to load.....
latency to lowyat.net around 400-500ms...
any1 on edge speed getting a good connection???

Sometime, my speed fall down to Edge (not very frequent)... can really feel the slowness. In Edge, I can still get ~200+kbps easily...
