Before this got one officer call me about my download over limit and say he will cap my speed.

That is still fine for me.

However, yesterday they SUSPEND my account without telling me!

I only know when I call them.

They say they suspend because my download over 3GB limit!

And I thought in the agreement they will only cap the speed and not SUSPEND!

Now I pay for my bill already and I cannot use until 1st March!

Did anyone here suspended too?

Added on February 17, 2009, 5:36 pmthen i say i wanna cancel

My account was also suddenly suspended yesterday without any notice. Just call Maxis @ 1 800 82 2000 and request to speak to a supervisor.

I spoke to a supervisor yesterday and it seems that Maxis is now starting to automatically suspend users that use more than 4-5GB per month. Which means Maxis have started to *strictly* enforce their Fair Usage Policy. I'm waiting for a call from the supervisor tonight to get an update about the status of my account.

If you speak to a normal CS, they will gladly let u terminate...then you have to pay the RM200 termination fee! Talk to a supervisor as they have more inside info and details about the recent Fair Usage Policy enforcement.

Erm, what has this to do with suspension of Maxis broadband account for going over the usage allocated per month?

Can you produce some concrete proof to back your statement? I am interested to know about this.
Well if you can't and post solely on hunch, then it's better not to post about it next time. smile.gif

Provide us with solid evidence that that is Maxis

If you read that thread , its written clearly that the thread starter of the topic replaced the persons nick name with something else. I don't think that is from Maxis anyway. If it was from Maxis , it would tarnish their reputation anyway !

The TS already clarified.

Sorry for the confusion then.

I apologise.

MCB does stand for Maxis Communications Berhad in real.

I did have bad experience using their service before.

My bad.

I think Maxis is enforcing their Fair Usage Policy due to capacity problems. I am experiencing disconnected voice calls in my area recently. I get disconnected in the middle of a call.

Ananda is trimming down on connectivity and bandwidth amidst the global recession.

Getting strong signal doesn't mean that you have good connectivity.

It's like hooking up a wireless access point/router to a slow 384kbps DSL line.

Your computer may be getting full signal bar to the wireless access point but your net connection is as slow as snail.
That's is how you should picture the situation.

Both side not very honest. If u look at Celcom plan of free modem, u will realized that it's not actually free but rather more beneficial to the company. In fact customer is paying more than they deserve.

I've spoken to the supervisor yesterday and it seems that my account suspension will not be lifted until 1st of March. The supervisor has personally brought my case to the higher management but the 'Board of Directors' have made their decision and nothing can be done about the suspension.

If you're account got suspended, you'll have to wait until 1st March to get ur account suspension lifted. Your account will not be charged within the suspension period and the monthly fee will be pro-rated.

I've decided to terminate my Maxis WBB account and with the help of the supervisor, the RM 200 termination fee will be waived biggrin.gif

I just came back from the Maxis Centre. I've registered for the UNLIMITED Mobile Data Plan (RM99/month). The monthly fee it's a little higher but I think it should be beneficial in the long term as there is no data usage limit, the line is more stable as it uses a different APN (unet) and the sim can be used with any modem. Also there is no minimum contract period and no termination fee smile.gif The only downside is that you'll have to buy your own modem.

shutterdll, have you tried speaking to a supervisor? Maybe you'll have better luck than me icon_rolleyes.gif

Average data transfer about 80-100 GB per month (download & upload). The highest I've gone is 120GB. Take note that I used the Starter Package (384kbps)....sometimes I get 70% of the speed but sometimes out of the blue the speed can reach up to 130%.

This month, my account was suspended when it got to 7GB blush.gif

Anyways, I'm currently using Maxis Mobile Unlimited Data Plan and so far so good. The speed is about the same with the MaxisWBB Starter Package.

Btw, I just bought a ZTE MF600 modem from Interpol smile.gif

'Real' performance not sure yet. I'll be doing some extensive test later tonight @ home. Current location: Sungai Buloh

I called Maxis CS, spoke to a supervisor, checked 'extensively' on Maxis website and it seems that there are no data usage restrictions. Just hope that it will stay that way icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm also on the RM99 unlimited. After 3GB, they will throttle you down to dialup speeds. I've tried downloading a DVD previously. That's what happened.

If you're a Maxis postpaid user, you can activate the RM99 3G unlimited data package yourself by logging into the Maxis website. Its a value added service. If I'm not mistaken.

You know this will eventually turn out to be a big problem to Maxis GSM network eventually when people start jumping over to this 3G Unlimited Plan.

It shares the same link to the base station as the one used for making calls. When it gets congested you will find mobile users complaining that they can't seem to make calls(network busy signal), call drops, no voice on the other side kind of symptoms even when their phones show full bars.

Now, even if you're not a postpaid user, you can also get only the 3G Unlimited Data Package. They will just disable/bar the voice service.

yaaa...the unlimited 3g should be the real unlimited since from their charges table looklike the "unlimited" word refer to "unlimited download", rather than lame "unlimited online time" for their broadband as well as celcom bb..

And I've used NetMeter software to benchmark my download speed (during the time I'm downloading movies) and average I've got between 2mb to 3mb..but sometime I also get 4mb shocking.gif but it is not constant...yesterday the line was bad..or maybe it was my laptop...I only get 1.5mb..

I did not know that this was the right place, just posted my Celcom experience in Kopitiam:

Hello all, I have just been screwed by Celcom. I am on the postpaid Executive 50 plan and I seldom make more than RM30 worth of calls each month. Have been their customer now for 18 months. Two days ago, Streamyx was really bad so I tried using the celcom line as a modem to access the internet. It could not have been more than 2-3 hours.

Yesterday they barred the line and I just made payment of the last bill. Today when I call up, guess what, my bill is RM550 plus that means I spent over RM500 for just those 2-3 hours on data. According to them the charge is 10 cents for a kilobyte (unbelievable, that work out to RM1 per 10kb, RM10 for 100kb and RM100 for 1mb) that means I must have used 5mb plus of bandwidth in the 2-3 hours.

How sneaky and unfair! If they can offer a daily unlimited rate of RM6.00, could they not just cap daily usage at RM10 assuming one did not pre-buy a day's committment?

Also if my monthly plan is RM50.00, how can they allow the bill to shoot up to RM550.00 before they decide to bar the line?

I think these data rates are absolutely outrageous and daylight robbery. To add salt, they say they can't do anything about it till the next billing statement unless I pay. So no line for a month...

Anyone else been zapped by such thieving celcos? Can I appeal and do I have any chance of reduction? Their customer service is manned by robots who know very little.

but they suspended my account for 3 DAYS and now they extra charge me RM 20!!.

Suspend me and still Over Charge me!

obefiend, 7kBps is quite slow. I can get 70kBps on 640kbps package

At this point of time I would recommend you to stop subscription with Maxis broadband and try out other broadband choices. Yes, there is 3GB limit imposed by Maxis, but as far as I know, some manage to download more than that while some get limited after they hit the limit. Therefore, it is pretty much subjective..

My Maxis Boradbandwidth also got capped today. The Cust Care ppl informed me that normal browsing speed can only be achieved by early April 2009.

This is so unfair to Maxis Boradband user. When we applied for the package, we were informed that the maximum 3GB bandwidth per month limitation is only a hidden wirtten policy which will not be enforced at all. I even call them up at least three times for the first three months to clarify on that term of usage. Same answer was given "NO LIMITATION AT ALL, 3GB LIMITATION IS JUST A WRITTEN POLICY'.

Welcome to the land of BANDWIDTH CAP

My brother already hogging Streamyx...what other option available now??

Errr...if *they* say the rules will not be enforced...wtf did they make the rule in the first place??? Don't ever believe salesman talk....read the black & white (contract) because that is the only thing that matters.
