I did not know that this was the right place, just posted my Celcom experience in Kopitiam:
Hello all, I have just been screwed by Celcom. I am on the postpaid Executive 50 plan and I seldom make more than RM30 worth of calls each month. Have been their customer now for 18 months. Two days ago, Streamyx was really bad so I tried using the celcom line as a modem to access the internet. It could not have been more than 2-3 hours.
Yesterday they barred the line and I just made payment of the last bill. Today when I call up, guess what, my bill is RM550 plus that means I spent over RM500 for just those 2-3 hours on data. According to them the charge is 10 cents for a kilobyte (unbelievable, that work out to RM1 per 10kb, RM10 for 100kb and RM100 for 1mb) that means I must have used 5mb plus of bandwidth in the 2-3 hours.
How sneaky and unfair! If they can offer a daily unlimited rate of RM6.00, could they not just cap daily usage at RM10 assuming one did not pre-buy a day's committment?
Also if my monthly plan is RM50.00, how can they allow the bill to shoot up to RM550.00 before they decide to bar the line?
I think these data rates are absolutely outrageous and daylight robbery. To add salt, they say they can't do anything about it till the next billing statement unless I pay. So no line for a month...
Anyone else been zapped by such thieving celcos? Can I appeal and do I have any chance of reduction? Their customer service is manned by robots who know very little.
