I facing the same issues just like you
After I consult ppl, it's either too much of sunlight or lack of water, that makes the grass dried up.
Probably other bro can share with us any quick solution...

Last time i also got the same problem.wat i did is buy some soil from nursery then remove the grass and top up the soil underneath.

I had the same problem as well. The best way to solve is to buy new slabs of mutiara/pearl grass and replant at the areas which have turned brown. I suspect could be the soil conditions but mine started happening after leaving the grass uncut for a while and seems to be happening at patches which had long leaves. When I was trimming it once a month it was fine.

greetings everyone, i have some problem

i have phillipine carpet grass around the yard of my house. it needs trimming every 2-3 weeks. I trim the grass with Black and Decker GL300 trimming tool. But i found that the machine can be used in short intervals, about 15-20 minutes, and mine was emitting smoke and the motor is too hot, and sort of slowed down (limp mode? i think)

is this normal? is the machine damaged somehow? what tools do you use to trim the grass?

another question, how to prevent excessive weed growth on the carpet grass? any suitable methods for my phillipines carpet grass?

thanks for your time

I have phillipine carpet grass also, using Bosch Rotak 40 Ergoflex, mow every 2-3 weeks also at height of 2.5cm, tried 2cm feels too short....some uneven area will cut too short.

Your B&D is suppose to trim edges only...not built to withstand the stress work from cutting the whole lawn area unless your lawn area is tiny. That's why it is called trimmer not mower.

Hope i've helped.

yeah.. a bit too late to realize that fact sweat.gif

need to buy a proper tool next time.

oh well. it's just the back yard area that the grass are growing a bit tall since the area is shady and damp, in the front yard the height seems to be ok.

do you have any methods to stop/reduce weeds from growing in the carpet grass area? i spent my last weekend cabut cabut all the weeds laugh.gif

All carpet grass grows pretty poor in shady area.....really poor...they really really really need alot of sunlight. If not they are ugly, not dense, long like...at some point looks like weed also. lolx.

Perhaps let the weed take over and mow the weed.....there goes your green lawn. wink.gif

Can't really stop weed from growing. Birds, wind, etc...can't do anything about it.
I don't hire people to cut my grass because their machine bring weeds from other houses they have serviced.

One way is deep watering, can ensure your carpet grass has deep root, so the weed can't over-power your grass.

If you use Black and Decker, you need to stop at the interval of every 10 mins. So far i use it ok, it shouldn't emit any smoke.

The only way to prevent weed is, you need to go around your lawn every week and plug those weed. It will slow down their growth. But you can't 100% eliminate their growth as there are too many means for them to come in again.

But i think the price i paid was ok cause i compared it against 4 other contractors. I found this guy on www.kaodim.com New website i read about them on therakyatpost. Their response time is really quick and they got me 5 quotes in total i think. All free. I compared and ended up with the guy i was telling you about.

You grass tiles should be laid closer to each other.
