3X water a day at the first week as the root of the grass havent ikat to the existing sand+soil, I did as what he told, now my grass all fit fit and firm, never ever put any fertilizer up to now
*
I didn't water 3x. Only evening 1x. The grass grow as usual and dense. I put the fertilizer depend on mode. When I lazy maintain, I don't put the fertilizer. It grow slower so I no need cut frequent. biggrin.gif But the grass look yellowish and light green.

If put fertilizer, the grass look like those golf course. Dark green and look fresh. If you wakeup morning and see your grass like this, damn shiok feeling. thumbup.gif

I seldom water the grass. As long as it not hot season now.

I got fews time even over 6 month didn't water. Look yellowish and unhealthy. But we forget that every month have some raining.

My first experience when put fertilizer, just throw the small bean to the grass. AFter fews day, some spot of grass turn dark brown but won't die. And a week later the green uneven.

So I get a pressure pump from ACE, put the fertilizer inside dilute with water. Spray it on the grass. No more grass turn brown and the green even and nice.

a out of topic question..

what type of garden hose do you guys use ?

good branded one costing 120 to 200 for 20 meters

or those normal non branded one sold in giant/carrefour ?
*
Get the hose that the color is dark green with some cross white line around it. Not sure what name and the price now. Brought it 14yrs ago and last till now. Whole year at the garden with sun and rain. And never leak or show wear. 1 hell of a good garden hose.

okie that sounds amazingly untrue.. 14 years... ? tipu ah u (just jk)

will check it out.. most pipe under sun after some time will like become brittle...

another thing bout those pipe is, can bend and get jammed up not like those pipe that cannot bend and collapse and jammed
*
No kidding. Under abuse of sun and rain in my garden for 14yrs. And I have another few ft at my outdoor water tank. Too didn't see any wear off. If sell it rm100 for a roll today, I will pay it without question.

This hose is soft and can twist too if no water pressure in. So normally after use, I close the gun and the water pressure still inside the hose, roll the hose back to the reel nicely. Than close the tap. Let the water still inside.

Don't let it bend or twist. This can cause it leak and crack.

If this is the one, I am using it but it get pregnant if the gun is not closed with 40 to 60 psi. I am interested your 14 yr old type, can show a pic?
A bit different. It will expand too but nothing wrong. The original color is more dark. Because abuse under the sun and rain.

Hi there, i have been a lazy person as well when come to the garden. I have to take care of my parents house's garden (which is mostly all my plants) and now i have lawn to water for my own. Sometimes, it is worth spending < RM200 for a water timer to help. I invested my 1st water timer, a company from PJ. I used it for 6 months and the LCD screen went blank and servicing is not up to what i needed. Then, i did a survey and asked my connection and found a reliable one. Round water timer, light grey in color. pretty good and serves for outdoor. Some of my friends have been using their products for 3 years and still working well! they have a website you can refer. www.hydromateirrigation.com. I even found some other types of timers out there but many of them are not for outdoor because of transparent cover and you know our weather, direct sunlight will spoil the LCD. sad.gif.

phew... lucky me. now i dont have to stay back holding my garden hose for close to 1 hr after my work hours.. man, that is actually my free time with family. smile.gif
*
You can get those without LCD screen and just the knob switch for setting. More durable. I saw 1 at this pusat bandar puchong hardware shop beside toto and magnum. And ACE hardware.

I'm getting conflicting remarks from people. Some tell me plant closer some tell me give gap 3"..some tell me give gap 6". Those who tell me to increase spacing is because can save on grass and not let the grass overlap each other when they grow thus causing bumps or uneven growth. What the hell...i just plant lah...the grass knows how to grow.
*
That depend how much you want to save the money and how fast you want the grass grow. The bigger the gap, the slower the grass grow fully. As it need time to craw and fill up. Just like that.

Last time cost rm7 for a 1'x1' patch grass. To save, I cut it 100mmx100mm and gap it at about 6". It take about 7mth to fully fill up the gap and grown nice. Need fertilizer to speed it up.

My grass got all these problems...
2nd pic - Overgrown / uneven on few spots
4th pic - Overgrown on the edges
Can anyone advise me what is the problem n what sud i do on it.
Thinking of cutting it short n evenly n let it grow again...but doubt this will work ( i mean to cut it short evenly )...
*
Grass need to trim and takecare.

Trim it short and let it grow again. Those a heavy bunch, trim it more down. Put some fertilizer and it will look very green evenly.

If the soil have problem, your grass won't grow already. Your grass is already in good condition. Just need to trim and takecare.

If you have dogs its even worst, our philippine grass is having brown patches of dead grass due to dog urine. Read online, that this type of grass supposed to be resistant to dog urine. Probably will go for fake grass for other areas.
*
Put some grass fertilizer and it back to green.

Cat poo even worst. mad.gif

It already died, withered and became brown after contact with dog urine due to the very high nitrogen content. So now keep watering twice a day and try to restrict the dog from going to the grass. Luckily we decided to do it part by part, else would have wasted money and energy.
*
The grass actually is crawing below the soil. It is a mass network below there. Eventually will grow back.

I do put high concentrate of grass fertilizer (nitrogen) sometime. It will become brown color. After 1-2week, it become very green again.

Yours is after 3 months right? Mine is like 1 whole grass patch which I recently planted had died, to test, I took it out and put at another spot and keep watering for 3 weeks to see if I can see any green shoots coming out, but nothing sad.gif
*
After 3mth?

If I put the fertilizer (small ball), it will turn brown at the spot.
