Definitely a movie which needs your thinking cap switched on as you enter the cinema. Lots of unanswered questions on my mind after the movie, looking through discussion forums now to find my answers and also watching it again.

By the way for those who don't know yet, there is a prologue comic available online. A good read before you watch the movie. You can find it at:

Based on the comic, I get what the theory is about. But I need pieces to understand about being Point man and the Architect.

I just got back from watching Inception. Mind-blowing, abso-F-ing-lutely awesome, Chris Nolan at his best.

Mind you, I had no idea what the movie was about, and as always went into the cinema with zero expectations.

I left the cinema, however, feeling totally F-ed, disturbed and disoriented.
Honestly yeah. As long as you pay 100% attention to the movie and the storyline, you will not be disappointed.

My review of this movie.

As I watch The Prestige before I went to this movie. I hope I was going to be blasted by another of his creations. But still, his style is easily to be predicted.

Nolan's work has been non linear storytelling. And thus the mid part where it all began for the opening scene. Then 'flashbacks' to the whole story process. And to the final ending.

This is a sci fi film that still cannot top Matrix with action etc... But this is a good thriller movie that gets to it's point. Quite differently for people who tries to understand in the ending. Be more gentle, see the things that are 'obvious' in the movie. Don't go cracking your head and buying the Bluray disc to watch it 10 times in a row. It's easy, it's simple... it's there...

I think I know what the whole story's point.

If any movie goers loved The Prestige, you'd love this one too... but a bit too much science involved.

What you should know is, (click if you want to have more understanding of the concept)

This movie is better than Prince of Persia, even better than The Dark Knight! I can say... worth it to watch. I watched at Leisure Mall for RM7 today at 12pm. Is it movie day today?

The movie is about Inception.

I just came back from Inception too. SUPERBLY L33TOMGWTFBBQ'ly AWESOME!

Best movie I've ever watched this year.

Well I kindda pity the one who does the scenes connecting, he must have blown his or her own brain trying best to put the layers of dreams in a way that it kept my adrenaline on throughout the movie.

Well done Christopher Nolan!

I think the film is too obsessed with plot dynamics and details, and moves at too fast a pace, it's crammed too full with cold mechanics and leaves no space for reflection and emotions. I'm afraid to say even by now only the first hour of the film really sticks in my mind, together with a few notable scenes in the second half. The plot is impeccable plotted, in a cold sense. It's so intricate that I doubt there will be any holes.

Even Nolan fans have to admit he really isn't the best man for shooting action scenes. Face it, the shootout on the snowy mountain was quite a drag, wasn't it? Clearly inspired by James Bond, but while watching I couldn't help but notice not just how poor it was, but also how unnecessary it was. The shifting-gravity sequence though.... that was just friggin awesome (and short sad.gif)!

Not to say I dont recommend it, definitely go watch it, just saying I'm a bit disappointed. Hopefully my second viewing will be much better. Changing my mind after a few viewings isn't uncommon for me.

I think the fast-paced notions of the movie were very well-intended. You don't even have time to think - there's too much weight on the brain - until after the movie ends. Then as the movie sinks in not unlike having ur plasma screen burn-in slowly - you get that disoriented feeling of surrealism.

This movie is a thinker - anyone looking for hardcore action or special FX might be sorely disappointed - but yeah. if you liked Memento (and got it) then you'll definitely enjoy this one.

Wow! The hamster wheel scene is really a big hamster wheel like set!!! And Nolan doesn't like overuse of CGI on his works. That scene for me is one of the best scenes that doesn't use CGI.

The best CGI scene would be the one Dom showed Ariadne about the world in the cafe. And the scene with the invisible camera mirror effect! Wuuuuu!!!! Nice

I disagree. I like Nolan's clumsy action scenes. It makes it look more organic to me. But yes, I do agree the zero gravity sequence could have been one long stretch rather than having it intersect with third layer and forth layer. Joseph Gordon Levitt's physical acting sold it for me.

And I have to say, I didn't feel the movie was too fast or anything. If you missed something or got confused, then obviously you need catching up to do and do your revision (re-watch tongue.gif) but there have been many people who got it the first time.

I don't think that is true.

But of course, I'll need another two screenings to digest everything as well tongue.gif But that's my interpretation after the first screening.

Organic? Well the gravity-shifting scene was fluid. Looked really good. But that whole scene on top of the mountains? No. Perhaps he's better at doing conceptual action scenes, but he does so very suck at conventional shootouts. tongue.gif

Btw, I like your ending.

What was wrong with the action scene at the mountain? Admittedly, I got frustrated with the wave of enemies which made it feel like Uncharted 2 (a PS3 video game if you're not familiar) but I didn't feel like it spoilt the film.

Interestingly, thanks to a link from mgsrulz, I found out that the music from the trailer was from Uncharted 1. If Nolan could direct an Uncharted film.... drool.gif

What is your ending btw? I thought you'd like this since I thought this and Shutter Island had quite a lot in common regarding what is real and not but obviously, I was wrong. laugh.gif

Just watched the film. Very cerebral indeed. I was sitting beside a couple who had puzzled looks on their faces when the credits started rolling haha. I needed to digest a mind stimulating film after watching Predators which was dreadful.

Good movie. I don't believe why some might be bothered it's too high concept. it's really fairly easy, done in Nolan's way. don't worry, It's not too complex smile.gif

Go ahead, it's worth the ticket. ( here me planting the the idea ) tongue.gif
