well, do you have the latest firmware? i would suggest EURO1 firmware. plus you can take silent pics without the shutter sound on.

firstly you need to change the code using nemesis[not sure that N85 compatible or not]-change to EURO code
then update the firmware as EURO firmware [if NSU detect it as EURO firmware..]but..the warranty will be void if you do this..


i'm sure it is just changing of back side only..

guys, does any of your n85 casing feels loose?
coz mine is quite loose and quite flexi.. its loose in terms of free play not slide.. feels like it hasn't been screwed tightly or something, and doesn't feel firm at all..

dont know whether its related or not, but my case below the keypads have some scratches already..

kae..when u max the volume when playing a song on your n85, is there any sound distortion? i mean is there any noise coming in at high volume?

it has a bit noise...but it also depend on your music file too..

it depends to the bitrate..look at your mp3 files.. if it has 320 bitrate..it is good sound and the sound produce in N85 will be good and less noise

but with worse mp3[i mean lower bitrate] the noise is high..

so it depends to the mp3 files too

try googling it... forums in sites like symbian-freak would have a thread on n85 country codes that include apac and euro codes.

Added on March 23, 2009, 12:50 amyup ..ur wrong if u have ori avaxx or zitron phone and want to update to another product code such as EURO:

do this steps man..

1. write down your original product code as stated in nemesis.
2. change the product code to another product code such as EURO using nemesis
3. update the phone through nokia software updater
4. after update change the product code back to the original code

extra directions...
5- if you told nokia care that u changed the codes and/or u didnt even think of changing the codes to the original, of course la void..they will be happy to tell u that u screwed up the warranty yourself..


plain and simple..sheesh... this is what booooster means..

Added on March 23, 2009, 1:01 amim not so sure as to the max volume of n85 having a problem with sound distortion.

but one thing is for sure, an mp3 that even has 320kbps would not promise a better sound than a 128kbps mp3 file.

this is because quite a number of people converted their lower bitrate files like 128kbps to a higher bitrate file and this will never make that mp3 better, it would just make it bigger..

if the original mp3 file or sound file originally has a higher bitrate then it would be logical not to convert it or to convert it to a lower bitrate file to save space.

a misconception explained:

1. converting a lower bitrate mp3 to a higher bitrate WILL NOT improve sound quality
2. a usual 320kbps mp3 WILL NOT PROMISE a better sound quality because of the unknown bitrate of the original format sound
3. a usual mp3 file will pretty much sound the same in the range of 128kbps to even 320kbps. large sized sound files such as flac are formats that will deliver sound quality..but there's not a lot of people that use these formats

you are welcomed. btw try adjusting the equalizer and audio settings like loudness to minimize sound distortion on the speakers. try adjusting it when u use a headphone as well because it may have different effects

My casing got abit loose also. Just like when i press to it can feel and see the movement la..

About the sound. The speaker of N85 is not very good. Even if I used a HQ mp3 still the same when I max up the volume. By playing with the EQ I get slightly better sound or else it's very bad..

i am with my N85 for about 2 weeks, really like this phone and find it's amazing

i have download some e-book inside my phone (of course is FOC one, haha) and really cant stop reading it via phone

i know i can listen to music and read ebook via computer but really cant stop myself from sticking to my N85, of course including playing games with it

i know continously playing with it will spoilt my phone life but i really cant stop myself... oh god... i just hope my phone can last for at least 2 yrs

Hahaha.. Glad you like it alot. Same goes to me hear. Can never get bored of it. Trying to maximise my 8gb with music and games but it seems to be impossible.. Heh..

Surely can last more than 2 years with heavy games and stuff thou.
Before the time comes I think you will get bored of it already. =p
