A) The short answer - all PS3 models can play PS1 games. (the disc based PS1 games are still region locked - Asian PS3 code is NTSC/J)
The long answer - some earlier models of PS3 can also play PS2 games, but they are not longer made/sold. The best option to play PS2 games is still PS2 + SDTV

i think it can be done

because the activation/privilege to install is done at the initial part of the download (activating part). after that, it can be installed/downloaded/resumed by any psn id

because anybody who knows the url can download it any time right even using pc (harvest url using proxy). the only problem is the activation/installing part.

well, last time when sony had not tighten the security yet, ppl can get gripshift game for free using the proxy method. and i did get warhawk beta.

How to Register PlayStation®Network

A) Create a new user in your PS3, then when registering for PSN, choose MY, US, UK, JP, SGP, HK, AUZ, etc. as country. You'll need a new email address and an address with postcode of that country. Either enter a random address or google to find one.

Create a new user (leftmost column in xmb), then sign in normally on the PSN column (2nd from right i think)

if r2 jp, you can only use jp psn card
if r2 eu, then impossible. no cards produced by scee

hdds formatted by same ps3 are swappable for the use on the same console

last time it didnt really pose a problem when firmware/os related files were solely stored in the nand. so swapping hdd could be done seamlessly

but now if you swap with old hdd containing older firmware, i dont know whether it will ask to reformat or just reinstall the firmware, as now firmware/os related files are installed in hdd as well as in the nand

of course can install new fw after reformatting
it will prompt for a usb drive containing the pup

the point was for swapping hdds
hdd for same version were swappable on the same console (not from other console)

if diff fw (between the new and old hdd), try it and report here so i can update the first post
