Yes, enable 720p and 1080p.

In technical sense, no games are natively 1080p. Most of which supports 1080p are just upscaled. GT5P has 1080p support, upscaled of course. Doesn't nessasarily looks better than 720p.

Is there anyway I can output the sound to my headphone? I would like to do that when I'm sneaking to play at midnight /gg
*
If you have a speaker that has headphone input, you can then route your PS3's sound to that speaker and then connect it to your headphones.

no game support 1080p natively? that's sad, better dont buy full HD LCD TV lor cry.gif
*
Games that support 1080p still looks good in 1080p, MGS4 is one of those prime examples.

But yea, Full HDs are best left for watching alot of Blu-Ray movies or other 1080p content.

Yes, create a new ID for him.
Then his saves wouldn't clash with yours.

QUOTE(amduser @ May 20 2009, 12:02 PM)
coz they say if play pirated disc will harm the lense, so i was wondering will it be the same if i burn the disc myself tongue.gif
*
People mistake the thing in "pirated disc" meaning that the disc is crappy quality, which isn't actually.

The problem with pirated disc causing a possible damage to your lens is because those people who burn data onto the disc and sell them in pasar malam couldn't give a rat-ass about how they burn the data on the disc. They would just open their favourite burning program, choose the highest speed, select the data, click burn. That is all.

If you are burning data yourself and you know what you are doing, like taking precautions in burning at a lower speed, setting the right amount of cache, and so on... no problems will occur.

Agreed.
And yes, this is the other better way if you are so paranoid.

Jeez... just copy the music ONTO your PS3's HDD then.

And no, you cannot play back-up copies of PS1 games on the PS3.

First, even if you could back-up, your PS3 is most definitely an Asia set(which means either HK, JP, TW, SG or MY). That would mean that you can only play NTSC-J games.

If your PS3 is somehow an Euro set, only PAL for you sadly. US set is obviously only NTSC. So this itself, entirely destroys your hope of playing a PS1 back-up on your PS3. You'd need a modchip to bypass the region-locks, but sadly till this day there are no stable modchips for the PS3 yet.

Second, legitimate PS1 games run as emulation on the PS3. It needs a code to tell that it is running from a physical medium(the PS1 disc) or from a downloaded distribution(via PSN). Again, this kills any hope for a back-up.

As for the music, the XMB is already as simple as it gets. No offense, I think anyone should be able to just navigate onto the Music option, select the playlist and press play all. If one cannot understand how to do that.... then, I'm speechless.

I'm currently using PSN Malaysia ID as my main ID, already have 26 trophies in it. Should I change the main ID to PSN US? Is there anything I'll miss if I continue using the Malaysia ID?

I download those DLC and demos using another ID registered under PSN US, so far 0 trophies as it's not my main ID.

Edit: Whenever I tried to login to PlayStation HOME using Malaysia ID, an error occured. However it does not happened when login using PSN US ID.

There. You just answered your own question.

There are no MY Home yet or even a working PSN store(okay, technically MY PSN exists but... no content).

I'm currently using Altec Lansing VS2141, probably the best 2.1 speaker I've ever used. Decently priced too, at RM200.

Has AUX input, so you won't have to switch everytime.

For optical cables, get one with good grounding and the wire is in proper condition. If not, you may experience sound breakage, cracking or static.

No "special" techniques.

First things first, take out your HDD before blowing. Yes a HDD is sealed and covered up, but better be safe than never. One small particle of dust may just creep into a HDD.

Then blow the air through the HDD compartment.
Also from the front vents(above the USB ports). DON'T, and I repeat DON'T blow compressed air into the Blu-Ray disc slot. Eventhough if theres alot of dust stuck on the canvas, don't do it. High chance to completely kill your lens.

You don't have to blow too much of compressed air. Just spray once or at most twice from the front vents and the HDD slot bay. Then take a vacuum cleaner and suck out the dust from the back vents.

If of course your PS3's warranty is over and you are confident and know what you are doing, you can always take apart your PS3 and clean it more thouroughly(my preffered method).

Yes most probably. We would mostly follow the updates on SG/HK PSN. It'd be suprising if we are as fast US or EU though. We'll see next week.

Most DLC have to pay.
It depends on the publishers and developers.

Of course, there are free DLCs as well.

Shops individually buy from big suppliers, and suppliers get their stock from Sony HK/SG. And guess where Sony MY get their stock from, that's right Sony HK/SG.

Even if no one buys from Sony Style ever again, these game shops are already buying directly from Sony HK/SG. They lose nothing, except a little less profit.

im planning to get a ps3.. ask around near my place.. a seller told me white ps3 easily become yellow.. is it true?

If it really does become yellow easily, it means you aren't taking care of your PS3 properly.

My PS3 is white and I've already had it for a year and half now. The color? Still pure ceramic white.

Dirt, thick type of dust, germs(yea germs), all attributes to your PS3 getting yellow. I once witnessed a newly bought white PS3 which gotten yellowish in 2 months.... the reason, the place where the PS3 was put in is filled with rubish and dust. doh.gif

Just keep your enviroment clean. Your white PS3 will stay white, always.

Can. If you have the guts of a true modder, you can take a part anything from the PS3 and mod it to whatever you want.

PS3s are all backwards-compatible with PS1 games.
As for setting, practically none. You can try turning on PS smoothing under your settings. And also of course you would need to create a virtual memory card.

If you bothered to read the first post of this thread, you'd already have gotten your answer.

Yeap. 80GB with PS2 emulation B/C has the chrome trim.

All 80GBs after that has a silver trim only.
