QUOTE(moon* @ Jun 16 2009, 12:05 PM) ehhm.. not sure abt u guise; but i bought a ps3 exos fan; it seems to be working well.. Theres no need for it actually. Infact, I don't like an exhaust fan either. The amount of dust gathering up would nearly be double, even if it's exhaust.plus; i open up my hdd cover n put a fan n suck the hot air out one moar question; ps3 can support up to wat capacity Hdd size?? Official support is up to 500GB, but I'm using 1TB at the moment and it's been fine. |

3.5" 7200RPM Western Digital Caviar Black.
In some extreme cases, the exhaust fan could actually mess up the PS3's cooling efficiency ya' know. But shouldn't be too much of an issue, just keep your place well ventilated and dust-free. |

QUOTE(moon* @ Jun 16 2009, 12:47 PM) lul i was refering to the internal replacement of the ps3 hdd ma so. in another words; u'r using a ext hdd plug into the usb port n using tat as ur current HDD?? if u dun mind; care to post up ur setup? i've been absent away from the IT product for quite sometime.. QUOTE(vorchiel @ Jun 16 2009, 12:51 PM) using 2.5" -> 3.5" sata converter/adapter enables us to use 3.5" sata hdd as 'internal/system' hdd. it will need external power adapter. Exactly what she said. If 1TB works, no reason why a 1TB 2.5" HDD won't work. Although good luck even forging out for a 1TB 2.5" or even find one out there. |

No.
Using the SATA/HDD converter bracket, I connect the SATA cable from the bracket to my HDD. That simple, same as how you would connect a SATA HDD to your PC's motherboard. Nothing to do with USB. I can do without the bracket, but could risk breaking the SATA port connection. So why risk, best spend a few dollars for the darn bracket. |

Something like that yes, but it's just a metal bracket with a SATA port soldered onto it. Nothing special.
Alternatively, this is what I did at first: |

QUOTE(Jenn77 @ Jun 17 2009, 10:49 AM) Orite, SSJBen, does using the external hdd help reduces / minimizes the heat problem in our PS3? I mean we all know that HDD in running mode emit a lot of heat and since its located in the small compartment, (looks like darn congested one!) more or less contributes to the heating of other components in the unit. Even using an internal 2.5" 7200RPM HDD won't cause any sort of a heat problem in the PS3.I've tried running a Western Digital VelociRaptor without it's ICE-CAGE heatsink inside the PS3. Left it on for Folding@Home for a week, no problems at all. I was away for a trip during the week, so my room was just left with the fan on. Air-cond off. QUOTE(amduser @ Jun 17 2009, 01:24 PM) HDD in my laptop is 48c now, maximum temperature it hit before is 55c, which is still within the operation temperature of the HDD, maximum temperature it can take before something wrong should be 60c or 65c Actually, other than the CECHA/HB/HE.... the CECHK is the hottest PS3 around.so it is safe in PS3, and and HDD operating temperature is around 40c minimum. FYI, my laptop is carry with the faulty nvidia chipset, my HDD brand is toshiba, come with the laptop and i havent change it, been using for a year still running well. i assume CECHK PS3 does not having much heat problem, but at the back there still can feel many heat being emitted the most effective way to protect your HDD content is to constantly backup your HDD data, so you will have no worries next time, just spend some time to load all the games data back to the new HDD, and at the same time you can change to a bigger capacity as well Due to the cost production cutting during the time, Sony also cut down on cooling components in the PS3. There are only 2 heatpipes (in comparison to 4 in the previous models), the fan speed operates lower and produces less CFM as well. Not like the PS3 ever had a major overheating problem though. But just a heads up. |

Duhh...
You're using a third-party card. They don't have the trophy images for Prototype yet, and many other games. |

QUOTE(amduser @ Jun 18 2009, 10:47 AM) it is possible, but do you think they will do it? you know how large is an uncompressed blu ray file? you gonna spend a whole year downloading a full blu ray drama series Then do you know that Sony does not deliver uncompressed VC-1 (Blu-Ray) on the US PSN video store? |

QUOTE(defaultname365 @ Jun 19 2009, 12:52 AM) Need some advice here. That is the reason to avoid windows burner.I have always used my console for reading Blu-Ray movies and Blu-Ray games. Just yesterday I thought I could see some vacation photos on my HDTV with the photos that I burnt to a DVD (Imation brand). The way I prepared the disc was, put the disc into my computer, right-click on it, select format and when done, drag all the photo folders into the disc drive and it will begin to copy them. When it was done, I put it on my console and selected Photos from the menu. However, only the 'first folder' of the photos was able to open. The rest it stated "Data corrupted" or something. Its odd, its a brand new DVD with (if I can recall) very superficial scratches (almost none). I am not too sure if the PS3 scratched the disc because when I removed the disc, I saw "circular" scratches - - scratches that don't occur when the disc is dropped, etc.. After that I continued watching Blu-Ray movies with no issues at all. I am not entirely sure what is the proper way to view Photo DVDs on the console. Will try another Photo DVD soon. Gosh, first time I put a DVD into the drive and this happens... Use something more reliable like PowerISO or MagicISO. Burn at medium speed, burning at maximum speed is not recommended. If you have the patience, just burn at the lowest speed possible from your DVD-burner. |

Monitor and speaker can.
Keyboard and mouse.... I can't think of a way really. Added on June 19, 2009, 5:07 pmOn a second thought, I think if you use a bluetooth mouse and keyboard, you can share them with your PS3 as well. Just that you need to activate and de-activate each time you want to use it on either your PC or PS3. This post has been edited by SSJBen: Jun 19 2009, 05:07 PM |

QUOTE(amduser @ Jun 19 2009, 06:48 PM) why razer cant use it?? you mean those driver and profile function? Common sense. Except UT3, there isn't a single game that has keyboard+mouse support.now i only notice that my DS3 L3 and R3 button have serious wear and tear, L3 more serious than R3 So why even bother buying a gaming mouse and keyboard then? Unless you have too much money to spend that is. I have had my DS3 for a year and half now, it is still in pristine condition. |
