Start by reading the first few post of this thread :

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211

If there is anything you dont understand, stop and ask smile.gif I am sure many people here, or over there will be willing to help. Thus, dont start if you dont understand.

Follow the steps given there. DO NOT flash to any Custom ROM, BEFORE doing hardSPL. Thus, again, follow what is given on the thread i posted above. After that, only go to specific threads like the one F1meteor had posted to get the ROM that suit you the most. Some particular famous one would be EnergyROM, BsB, Aztor etc.

Again, if you dont understand, ask. Thus, you wont make any mistake smile.gif

i'm wondering how to create folder and move the short cut icons into a folder?
i'm using BSB btw
*
File Explorer allow you to create folder directly. I am pretty sure you can use File Explorer to cut the shortcut and paste it into the folder. Whether or not the shortcut will function after that, i have no idea tongue.gif

File Explorer i believe, can be found in Tools --> File Explorer.

Do i need to reinstall garmin after i flash new roms to my TD? Which radios for diamond is the most stable so far?
*
Well, i guess no one can tell you which radio is good or bad. Its basically trial and error. I am currently on 1.11 and its so far had been stable for me, on both BsB and EnergyROM. Used to be on 1.09 but always had signal drop out.

QUOTE(billy_overheat @ Dec 24 2009, 01:26 AM)
if i'm not mistaken, when u r hard reseting the device, u can choose the second option which will wipe the internal storage too. forgot d..O.o

Added on December 24, 2009, 1:28 amsolaris

i'm using the radio 1.17.25.09 of blackstone, it's very nice, but u need SU it. Security unlock. u can search in diamond ROm dev there. =)

billy.
*
Well, that option used to be there when i am on BsB or the Original ROM. However, after shifting to EnergyROM, it only allows me to flash the memory, not the internal storage.

akachester.. can u post me the link to download the 1.11 radio? I Cant seem to find it on Xda >.< .. thx in advance.. Somemore what is MTTY? coz some roms before flashing u need to do tat first? I only know Hard Spl .. dunno wat is MTTY... help from all Sifus here much appreciate smile.gif
*
MTTY is basically the program that is used to flash your phone. Previously, all we did was just placing the ROM image into the internal storage and flash it directly. However, doing it that way had proven to cause some problem. Thus, flashing with MTTY is better and safer.

Thus, from the link that i had provided you previously, when you finish Step C, just stop, and proceed to the MTTY thread to read on the ways to flash your ROM.

The Radio Thread is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=470306

The MTTY Thread is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540290

Enjoy! smile.gif

No problem. Just follow exactly what is recommended at that thread for MTTY. Basically, its only confusing when you are installing the drivers for the first time. Again, if you read the first few post carefully, and follow each step properly, then it will be fine. Using MTTY are not that complicated, if you know what to do. Basically, all you do is open up MTTY, type a couple of sentence and you are already flashing the phone smile.gif

when typing the command in MTTY, do not copy, paste, enter
it will not work
you have to type and enter

i installed Garmin XT mobile
installed map from malfreemaps
but my diamond like cannot detect GPS signal at all
i already run the application to download sat satellite signal

*
Set the GPS COM PORT to COMM4. Go into the Settings in GarminXT and setup the GPS Port. TD's default GPS port is COMM4. smile.gif

hey,

All diamond users,

anyone of you actually have difficulties in locking your phone?

I mean,

Long press End Key (Red) to lock the screen.

I cant manage to lock the screen as whenever i press the end key, it jumps to another manila tab- the same condition as i press > at the navigation pad- any idea?

Please help or should I send it to RMA??
*
Did you actually set the Long End Key as locking the screen? Another way to lock it is to click on the Start button, and there will be a LOCK option at the bottom left corner.

i wan to ask something about the rom flashing
i've studied about the process of flashing a custom rom
but i have a question in mind is that
am i still able to restore to the original rom if i get tired with all these stuff?
*
Yes you can. Exact ways, you gotta ask the experts out there. Someone like baronic or Aavatar smile.gif AFAIK, you need to undo HardSPL and then flash it back to original ROM.

Edited :

Just flashed to the latest EnergyROM WM6.5 (Not WM6.5.3) with Sense2.1. So far, everything seems very smooth even with memory idling at 75%. Lets see how good this is compared to TF3D tongue.gif

*
There you go :

http://hotfile.com/list/93325/99ab7ab

There is 2 version there.

EnergyROM_21885_DIAMOND_24.Dec.2009_Standard_Sense2.1.rar - Indicates WM6.5 with Sense2.1
EnergyROM_28011_DIAMOND_24.Dec.2009_Standard_Sense2.1.rar - Indicates WM6.5.3 with Sense2.1

Enjoy.

P.S. I flashed it back to Titanium after 5minutes though. tongue.gif Cause in just 5minutes, the memory shoots up to 95% tongue.gif

-Edited-

Realised i couldn't even run YouTube on EnergyROM Titanium WM6.5.3. Crazy. It says insufficient memory. Guess probably its time for me to switch back to BsB tongue.gif

akachester, the stable in 75% is equal to Program Free ??.??mb? Thanks, been a while didn't flash my TD.
*
Program free? I am not sure though. At least, it was the memory usage when i turned on the phone and it was stable at that point with me not opening or playing around with anything. Not until i start to click here and there, and up it goes to 95%. Shocking!

Yea, its 75% when free of program usage. But compared to the previous version of EnergyROM that i had used (i think its WM6.5 with TF3D), this is way better than that version. I mean, even at 75%, you don't feel thats its lagging. Everything still felt very smooth. The Sense2.1 still felt very smooth even with memory at 95%. But heck, you cant open anything else anymore cause it will just say "Insufficient Memory" tongue.gif

i brought a diamond lastnight.
im totaly noob in windows mobile and i dont knw where should i start.
it now running on
-WM6.1
-TouchFLO ver3.0
-Rom version 2.03.707.2 WWE

sometimes even i didnt run any program my ram usuage show 75%
where should i start?
*
First of all, its normal for Touch Diamond. The thing you should do is to constantly soft reset the phone (like once in 2 - 3 days). Thats what i usually do. If you wanted to further limit it, then you can disable the TouchFLO 3D. Thats the application that is supposed to be the cause (for most) of the memory leak issue.

Other than that, you can opt to HardSPL and flash it to custom ROM like most of the people is doing. WM6.5 is much stable and less memory hungry.

GPS was bad on my 1.11 with Mapking. Took over 5minutes to lock the signal. How much does the TD Original Battery cost nowadays? Mine is dying in an exponential rate tongue.gif Currently can hold less than 24 hours, even without calls tongue.gif

Mapking nice to use? i only got garmin on my TD, but i heard papago also not bad for windows mobile.
*
Personally for me, at first, i felt that the Mapking is more user friendly. At least the settings etc are easier to be found for someone (like me) who has no idea how to use a GPS device. However, after looking at those Garmin GPS devices that they used in cars, i decided to install back the GarminXT, only to find out that its actually very easy to use as well (no idea why i didn't like it in the first place). Things like locating your favorite places or storing destination etc, does seem a tad bit easier. So, i would still resort to Garmin at any time smile.gif

Been using Gen.y R5 roms for 2 weeks... very stable and fast... i like the Sense UI so much....
*
Which Sense UI that is included there? 2.1 or 2.5? GEN.Y seems to be picking up quite fast. Alot of people in XDA are starting to look into that though. I am still torn into finding a better Custom ROM here to replace the EnergyROM. Whats the memory usage on the GenY R5?

QUOTE(paulcj @ Jan 7 2010, 07:29 PM)
thanks,
done some research, gonna try it.
how to do hardSPL? need to run software to do it?

and i cant see 3G logo on my phone when connect to internet, it noly show edges/gprs
how to do setting for A-GPS? seem not working even i update my quick GPS.
*
Do refer to threads in XDA before you start doing anything. Read everything from there before starting to avoid bricking your phone.

need some urgent reply,
how long it take to loading to flash a rom?
using this method

1.) the one i prefer, it is faster- Rename .nbh file to diamimg.nbh, copy it to internal storage(in root).
Disconnect device and in the same time press reset+voldown+back button.
After that follow on screen instruction
*
Well, my experience would be roughly about 5minutes max. Should be nothing more than that but i have encountered problem flashing it that way. Something like unstable camera, unstable ROM etc. Its still recommended to flash using MTTY. Its basically the same thing, with just and extra few steps to prevent those problem from occuring.

At last my TD Battery die off last week and I've get a TD Genuine Extended Battery(BP E270 for RM135.00) and to my surprise the usage time is around double the original slim battery and my original TD back cover are fingerprint magnet but this extended batery cover come with matt finish that make it finger print free and overall thickness after installed the extended battery + the new back cover it only a bit thicker than original(2 to 3mm thicker only) and that's still acceptable to me. smile.gif
*
Nice. Where did you get it from? I am reluctant to get the Extended Battery cause i like the current slim body of the TD. tongue.gif Not going to make it any thicker. Gonna have to source for another battery.

Hi Im pretty new here, went thru some reading in xda too.

just wondering if the flashing need to be done in WinXP or Win Vista?

The reason why im asking is Im a Win7 user but I did install Windows Mobile Device Center in Win7 and it could sync with my diamond without problem after some fussy reinstall or drivers.

I was trying to install driver for MTTY in Win7 but seems I cant get it right (driver version diff after I follow the step...) sad.gif
*
It will work in Windows 7. Even if it says driver installation failed etc, as long as MTTY can still detects USB mode, you can still use that. Just remember to always boot the Windows 7 in "allow unsigned driver to load" mode as said in the MTTY thread in XDA.

For cooked rom I don't think you can access to any video call feature unless you sacrifice the Tachi phone canvas and reinstall back the Diamond Video Telephony but when you have installed this Diamond Video Telephony, you can't call from the quick dail screen anymore cause the quick dail will works only with tachi phone canvas.
*
Yea, which lead me to think, Windows Mobile OS doesn't actually come with its own Video Call function? I mean, thats not like something new. Probably someone need to bug Microsoft on this.
