after get poisoned by u all, i officially get my black LX3 today...
but after a few hours playing with it, i still confuse which mode to choose to take a good pic; M, S, A, P or should i just use iA mode...
when i need to used these all manual mode?

sifus, really need your help....
please teach me.......

What mode you should use depends on the type of photography you're shooting.
Say you're shooting some action photography and you want to do some panning shots, in this case S mode would be the most suitable mode.
Or you could be shooting landscapes and wish to have a big depth of field, then you could switch to A mode to select a smaller aperture.

Not bad for a start~!
Try to play around more with the modes in the cam.
I like vibrant mode especially when the scenery has a lot of colors, e.g during a sunset.

As mentioned by a few guys here....."read the manual".
You can't avoid it~!
hahaha.... tongue.gif

Welcome all the new additions to the family! laugh.gif

Anyway....
Read the manual 1st dudes~!
If u dun even know what does aperture, shutter n iso mean or do, I suggest u go google it up.
These are really basic stuff but takes a whole lot of effort to explain.
Better u read it on ur own 1st.

After u have a few shots, post them up n let the guys comment.
This should b the correct learning process icon_rolleyes.gif

thanks! that's a good pointer for me. and thak you pcHo. looks like i've got to read the manuals and fiddling with softwares. once i've gone thrugh with those two, i'll try to take some shots for this thread. currently experimenting with apperture and shutter priorities with my ceiling fan... tongue.gif

Personally, I use A mode more than any other modes.
Since one of the LX3's highlights is its f/2.0 leica lens, i normally open it max wide for portrait's n macro.
Gives u the fastest shutter and the best bokeh effects.

I use S mode for tricky shots with fast moving objects.
Set it to, lets say 1/200s and snap away.

M mode only for when I have the time n a steady tripod.

Try to take some not so ordinary pictures. I notice your sea level is slanting in some of the pics. Do take note of that.

Yeah, take note of the horizon. Make sure it's horizontal unless you're trying to do something creative.

Testing out the long shutter feature:

10s, f/4.0, ISO 100

Playing wit depth of field. Obvous ka?

user posted image
1/25s, f/2.0, ISO 100

Wanna ask sifus, what's the difference b/w P mode and A mode? I can only change the f-number in P mode using the joystick, much like the same wit A mode. Menu also can change pretty much the same thing.

C&C welcomed.

So long never drop by here... miss you guys! very paiseh these days so busy till no time to play with LX3.

I see there's some new joinees here and they take some mean pics!

I've got a small suggestion, how about those who willing to share their Flickr/Picasa pics, to submit it to TS and have the link at the front page of thread? Easier to track the beauties that way.
