do you have any specific ecu in mind?(obd1/obd2/obd2b)
i'll have a lookout since im scouting for obd1 myself for my EG

unless theres a kind soul who can borrow me his/her ecu for a day to troubleshoot my car
*
carburetor cars no need ecu. back then carb unit was the one that controls the car air fuel mixture, lol, but yeah for that price, i guess its mixed bag of everything.

you are right
called mun lee, no stock.
i doubt i can find anything in usj ;__;

i need another working ECU to pintpoint whether my car is having ECU problem itself, or theres short circuit wire causing the ECU not functioning/giving out error code

its giving out an error code? have u checked online wat that code means?

im not sure about ur model...but with the B16A EGs n above theres a way to short the wires (which i forgot exactly which wires) to get the error code to display on ur dash....

ur check engine light will be blinking the error code.

sorry bro, called my halfcut supplier in menglembu ipoh and he said no stock...im also shocked that he said p30 is easier to find than the local p27 ecu....

have u tried kampung melayu subang or consider rechipping the p30 to suit ur current engine parameters

bro...how bout this thread on mudah:

This is for my p72 OBD2 ecu but i think the methods would be similar for the p30 OBD ecu too. There are two sockets which leads to the ecu....remove the piece of rubber covering the wire sockets and u will find that there is one with 3 pins and one with 2 pins....simply get a piece of wire, plug the 2 ends into the socket with 2 pins...then turn ur key to on but do not start the engine.....u will find that the check engine lights will be blinking with long and short blinks.

To read the what error codes mean, pls google up coz there are too many to paste here.

Sorry to interupt on the ECU issue for a bit. FoxAss, confirmed Vios less bumpier than Civic? If that's the case, when the car passes through those yellow lines, the whole civic is like ding donging with passengers trembling in the cabin!????? <-- sounds exaggerated, hehe, but Vios isn't a car with good suspension.

The vios is using a torsion beam while the civic is running on a double wishbone setup...technologically speaking, the double wishbone is miles ahead on comfort compared to the reliable bout old-tech torsion beam.

But then, many other factors affect bumpiness, such as tire profiles, absorber and spring settings....if u don't want the civic to be bumpy, then go trade the tires for something thicker with a smaller rim size

Somehow I feel the new technology is actually cheaper. I believe when doing the R&D, cost always a mojor factor. Is business. As you said, theoritically, double wishbones should perform better than old tech, but reality not. Maybe these new techs use less material to reduce the cost, n they use marketing to cover such flaws by making people believes it is a better tech?

No, torsion beam based suspension layout is cheaper to manufacture, double wishbone/multilink suspension layout is more expensive to manufacture. Hence, you only see them in most luxury/expensive/sports cars. smile.gif

u only need to know this. the sportier the car, the better the suspension, the harder the springs or absorbers, the bumpier the car would be.. my fren always fetch me with his 350z.. its even bumpier. remember that the civic is not the luxury or the family car infact its the sports sedan.

also remember this.. u wan handling u lose comfort. if u wan comfort u lose handling =D

trembling is not the word to use. of coz the vios would be more trembling than civic even when idle. its bumpier.. u can feel yourself 'leaving the seats' bumping up and down when the suspension is really really that damn good. haha

note : that is because the road in malaysia is super lousy with holes and rubbish everywhere

no point asking when u cannot feel. go find a person u know with vios and another one with civic. then compare the bumpiness. u will get the answer

I am driving Vios. When I test drive the Civic, it was't that bouncy to me. Maybe the road was good, or maybe is the same as Vios. Vios is very bouncy, when it passing through the yellow lines you mentioned, everyone trembles. Maybe we should ask Pamela Anderson to test drive together with us. So we can see the degree of the bouncing clearer.
