For those who have paid and PM / SMS me. Thanks.
For the others, let me know once you've transferred the money yah.
Just trying to reconcile my bank account balance.

For the sewn type, most likely I'll pick it up Mid-next week (i.e. 18 - 19 March 2009) since they need about 3 working days to get it done.
** Managed to convince Larry and Chris to come to the dark side and get the sewn type..hehe!

From the sky! thumbup.gif

There's a group of 24 satellites orbiting above your head. These satellites covers the entire surface of the earth. You only need a minimum of 3 satellites to lock on to ascertain your exact position (called triangulation). Your GPS unit is accurate to within 10m, plus minus.

From satellite and telecommunication towers. smile.gif
That's why GPS knows the location you're now.

Hmm, nope. Because we don't have the tracker device. Our GPS is not a tracking device, unlike CAPTOR's tracking device. smile.gif

Let me clarify regarding the speed trap warning and road block warnings on the Garmin nuvi GPS unit.

These warnings are included into the Malsingmaps and Malfreemaps. (standard Garmin maps don't have such warnings) They are custom POIs contributed by members of both map communities. When you reach and area that usually has a speed trap or roadblock, the GPS will beep signalling you to be cautious when approaching the area. It does not detect speed traps or warn you on incoming road blocks.

It also beeps to warn you to slow down if the stretch of road is indicated to be a certain speed and you're going above it, say 80km/h and you're driving at 110km/h.

Agreed that FriendFinder is a cheap way to track it but telecommunication towers only give you an approximate location. Better than nothing I guess. Captor GPS tracking system can track your car to within 5 meters of it's location. Downside is if car is in tunnel, basement carpark, covered area, container, then it will not be able to track. GPS signal needs 'line-of-sight', meaning the GPS receiver can see the satellites up in the sky. That's why Captor RF is a better bet if you are interested in higher chances of recovery. Of course Captor RF/GPS is the ultimate la, both systems in one but mahal nak mampus!

Yes, but it's not 'live'. What GPS said doesn't mean it happens right away. It just tells you that those favourite speed trap hotspots.
Yes, I encountered before when I go up to KL and SG - All the way beeping because those stratches are hotspots.

Got, standard Gamin map also have.
I think for CAPTOR, if not enough budget, can use Friend Finder, combine with CAPTOR's GSM/GPS. That way will save a lot. Hehe...

Update 8:45am @ 14/03: Last 2 names on the board, do let me know if / when you have transferred the money to my account yah? As I will not be online for the next few hours (will be back very late say 2am+). So when I wake up tomorrow morning and if there are no PMs whatsoever, that's the final number. Thanks! nod.gif

After considering for some time I guess I'll just wait for my car to arrive then only decide on the mat and GPS. Thanks to Andy and Scott for all the troubles anyway.

Of course it needs. Battery life is 4 hours maximum.
The package itself bundles with GPS device, in-car-charger and USB cable. USB cable can be used to charge and update firmware/maps.

The Public Bank offer is a nuvi 205. The Group Buy is a 205W, the widescreen version. It's not the same. I believe the Public Bank offer is from the old stock (most probably old operating system and no new features such as HotFix and faster processing speed). It's actually a misrepresentation on Public Banks part as the picture in their site is a 205W but you will be getting a 205 instead. Can actually sue them over it. FYI, 205 is cheaper than 205W.

Yo bro..

I think there's been some confusion... The 205 is different from the 205W.. the 205W is the widescreen version.. smile.gif Think chris & foocy has explained the differences here.. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/939450/+1160

We're getting our 205W for just RM800... Want to join or not? It's a really good price... Let me know if you're interested alright?.. smile.gif I'll be closing the group purchase tomorrow evening.!!
